....more folks from the political end going this time.

Here is the thread: http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?p=1491111#post1491111 It'll be January 2007 and in Las Vegas (the Riveria)

Now that is more than enough time to make your arrangements. This year Randfan, Rikzilla, Roadtoad, Brown and myself were the only really 'politicals' there, and you can ask them but I think they will agree that they had a ball.

Now there are two folks I allowed to beg off this year when I pressed them (I'll not name them except to say they were Cleon and LukeT) and I'll be bugging them early and often to go.

Seriously, it's a great experience and being able to put a face to a name often makes the debates a bit more civil (I mean, 'zilla hasn't denounced anybody for, maybe, hours now? ;) :p ).

So you have been warned. I'll provide the newspapers at breakfast and lunch if you'll provide the running commentary.

We now return to the regularly scheduled Political denuciations and pontifications...

I have every intention of going.

Unless I lose my job (FSM forbid), get hit by a bus, nuclear war, or some other calamity, I will be there.

I too plan on going in '07.

Oh, sigh.. Still in Lost Wages, eh? I'll try. This year my excuse was jury duty, last year it was a standards meeting. Maybe next year, maybe next year.

But do I gotta, Cousin Hutch? H*LL I'd go to Gardiner MT, or Kalispell, or Estes Park, or Flagstaff, or Moab Ut, even Salt Lake City willingly, but LOST WAGES? Oh, (rule 8).

You are the most contrary man....but heck, if you drive down you can make a vacation out of it, you can pickup Roadtoad on the way, and bring the girls..rikzilla had his wife and daughters withhim this year and kitty brought kitten2 and the kids seemed to do OK.

Aw, c'mon, if you get there on Wednesday I'll take you to the Mud Wrestling matches at the Frontier Hotel...

The kids have school, or it would be a lot easier indeed. (Not that they need me at home any more, except when math gets hard...) I'm sure elder offspring would thrive at a TAM, she's fit right in with the deceptive-looking geek squad.

I'm sure the kids would do fine. I think I've been somewhere they weren't thriving, but I can't recall where it was offhand...

But (WHiiinnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee) LOST WAGES? Ewwww!

I spell "Tequila" more like "Laphroig" or "Craggenmore". I can't stand Tequila. Not my taste. Don't like to get drunk, either. Too *&&(* old for it, I fear.

Too *&&(* old for it, I fear. There are outstanding Scotch bars at the Venetian and the Paris. That said, there's a tequila bar at Bally's that might change your mind -- almost as much variety and sophistication as one might find as a single-malt. The difference between some of the better tequilas and Cuervo is as large as the difference between a rail scotch and a proper Scotch.

As for me, I dunno about the timing. Geez, that's right when we're closing the books. Vegas is pretty cheap the week after the NCAA's -- wonder if we could convince them to move it to late March some year.

Don't do that, either. I like myself the way I am. Yes, I am aware that bothers one or two people. :)

Hell, jj, I'll second what Tony and Rik have said. It would be great to meet up at TAM. Joiiiiiiinnnnnnn Ussssssssss.

Besides, IIRC, we have daughters roughly the same age and very much alike in personality. I'll bring mine, you bring yours, and we can prove that the next generation of skepchicks is well represented.:D

Oh, I wish that the kids could come. They'd fit right in, well, except that my 15 year old might want to go clothes-shopping with one of the LESS baggy-clad "skepchicks". Pleeeassseee????

I'm SO there, once again! The boy and I had an amazing time this year, and we look forward to meeting those we didn't get to see the first time around.

Vegas, baby! ;)

And jj and Nyar, I would note that Rik has two teenage daughters (IIRC, one will probably be 20 next year), along with Kitty's Kitten. And if Zep hits the lottery and can afford to travel here with his kid--just think, 6-7 teenage girls, loose in Las Vegas...:jaw-dropp :eye-poppi

Ummm, maybe don't think that.

Rik, I'm on to jj; he would love to come to TAM but he hates Vegas with a passion, so he figures if he starts up a few good feuds he can say he doesn't want to go because of all the people who don't like him.

Only trouble is, I've met him, and stubborn and grumpy as he is, it is not at all hard to like him. Really.

Well, you got that much right for sure! On the other hand, that's not why I argue with radical right-wing revolutionaries who want to replace the constitution. :D

Las Vegas, well, the best parts of Las Vegas are:

Lake Mead
Red Rocks
Lake Tahoe
Yosemite
Mono Lake
Death Valley (no Boraxo, either)

I think you're getting the idea by now, eh? :)

Besides which, it was the steak, admit it, Hutch, it was the steak. And the wine, eh? :p

Yeah Ny we missed you. Sorry that it worked out so badly for you this year and hope your boy is feeling better now. April is my 13 year old and she had a great time @ TAM hanging with Kramer's kid Tess. So yeah I know bringing your 13 or 14 year old to Vegas sounds like a bad move but it really kind has a way of working out.

'sides...we need to catch 'em before the creds do.

I completely understand. Like I was trying to 'splain to other more hardheaded people...we skeps have so much in common that political differences can easily be dwarfed and overcome. The problem with forumites vs TAM attendee forumites is that some of the former still haven't got a handle on this critical-thinking thingy; while most of the latter are very, very dedicated to it.

There's a big difference there kids....and I'm sorry but I must admit that I am powerless against my urge to be rude to creds of all stripes...so sue me.
