This guy (http://cgi.ebay.com/Broken-Stradivarius-Cremona-1726-Violin_W0QQitemZ7388693535QQcategoryZ38109QQrdZ1QQ cmdZViewItem) seems to be suffering from the disorder. Symptoms begin with finding a violin in your attic (so it must be old!), seeing an old-looking label (handwritten - it must be true!), and subsequently calling the news stations, or, in this case, listing it on eBay. His original price was $25,000, then raised it to $375,000 for some reason, and now it's a 'reasonable' $265,000.
Further symptoms include threatening to either destroy this 'piece of music history' if no one buys it, or use it to start a bluegrass band.
Check out the questions as well. People from Maestronet (http://www.maestronet.com) are having some fun at his expense. One of them posted this :
Got a reply. He offered to fly out to wherever I am with his two bodyguards to have the instrument authenticated. And if it wasn't a real strad, he would take $50,000 off the price for his "trouble" and I coud buy it from him for $100,000. I replied back that his offer was absurd and that he should not expect buyers prove the that HIS item for sale is authentic.
Another skeptic forum-in-the-making!
