View Full Version : Stopping Kaz - an example to us all

Very well done, Rob. That was an excellent commentary. It's great to hear your work is having a significant affect on the Kaz roadshow, and the phrase 'opened a can of skeptical whoop-ass' should pass into common usage on this forum! :D
It's heartwarming to see how one person can make such a difference. Not through money, influence or celebrity, but simply by refusing to take this garbage lying down.
Now let's all do it. Let's follow in Rob's footseps and make a difference of our own. Next time we see a woo-woo article in the papers, let's write a letter. Next time some scam artist appears on a radio phone-in, let's call and invite him to take the $1million challenge. And let's use these forums to share information we can use to debunk woo-woo claims in the real world...

Robert has shown the power of one, smart and dedicated person to put fact and reason forward in a constructive way. He is a great example of what can be done -- especially using the tools of the internet -- to provide people with information they can use to unmask fakes, hucksters and con-artist. Would that our TV networks and reporters were as detailed and thouroug, humble and amusing.
BRAVO!

I kick myself whenever I remember how stupid it was of me to miss most of your TAM4 speech. Excellent commentary! My foot can rest now!

Thank you for exposing fakes.
I am a christian and have bene in many churches. Though I've never heard of the fraud Kaz, I've heard some tall tales. You would (or would not) be surprised at what christians will believe (almost anything!)
People have believed the nasa mising day story, and others. I would like to think they aren't beyond hope, but I have little faith in that.

Rob,
With your exposure of Kaz, shouldn't it get a spot on the skeptic dictionary site and an entry in Wikipedia.
I am reliving your presentation at TAM 4...thanks for making a difference.

I sent Rob a couple of email messages in the last couple of days to address the issue of Kaz's PhD. I searched all the names that he has listed for her on his stopkas website at the Dissertation Abstracts database, and didn't find anything that could be confused for Kaz. Thus, if she has a legitimate doctorate degree, it is under a different name (not DeMille, nor likely Jacobsen or Jacobson)

I am reliving your presentation at TAM 4...thanks for making a difference. Thanks, Glenn. I don't know about SkepDic, but as Geni points out, there's already a Wikipedia article. A woman who found my site (I believe after it was featured on Cruel.com) wrote it up there.
With Geni's advice, I added entries about her to a couple of other pages on frauds there, to help with cross-linking.

I sent Rob a couple of email messages in the last couple of days to address the issue of Kaz's PhD.Thanks so much for doing that! I didn't connect that it was you. I'm behind on my email (the Commentary resulted in quite a bit of it), but I hope to reply to you today or tomorrow. Thanks again!
