A friend just handed me some back issues of Analog Science Fiction and Fact
In the Dec 2004 issue is a 1 page very short story "The Test" by a Kevin Levites.

Aliens land and apply to "Mystical Michael" ,a magician-turned-debunker-of psycics...who offers a prize...
The similarities are uncanny, however...Definite referrals to the paranormal and the influence of the 'Net
It's kinda cute, actually.

Well, as long as it provides an accurate portrayal, where the skeptics look at the test results and say "Bugger me, you can actually do it!", then go out and apply for scientific funding ;)

The Amazing Randi is such a colorful figure, that I couldn't resist poking fun at him and his organization. I didn't think he'd mind, as it was all in good fun.

Actually, not ego surfing--I follow the JREF, as I sometimes write things for Skeptical Inquirer and Skeptic magazine.

And Kevin, and rwguinn, my comment was meant to be lighthearted. Of course I have googled my own name. The results are fascinating. There are a great number of really interesting people out there who share my name.

Nothing much turns up when I google my name. But when I put it into Google Images it normally turns up pictures of gravestones. Weird seeing your name on a gravestone.

I get paranoid and think google is threatening me.

Link to story?

How does it end?

Wouldn't Randi love to hand over a million bucks to bona-fide aliens? Wouldn't aliens be sufficient, with out psi powers?

:D

I cannot find a link. Perhaps Kevin can provide one?
Analog doesn't list it on their web site...
