from the Sumerians and pre-Israelite Semitic people, is that enough reason to completely " debunk " the bible?

Feel free to post all that you know about the Sumerian and pre-Israelite Semitic creation myths, then form an argument based on that and your biblical knowledge.

In short, the answer is "no."

Even knowing that similar stories predate Genesis does not make the Bible demonstrably "debunked." Any number of possible explanations exist, among them:

- The existing pre-Israelite stories preserved a "corrupted" version of the "real" story that the Bible "restored."

- The Bible's authors consciously adopted a familiar cultural idiom in which to couch theological and moral ideas, regardless of historicity (i.e. parable).

There are plenty more, but those are a good start. Then, as Donks said, put your money where your fingers are.

The explanation is obvious.

Satan planted these stories.
