Doeas anyone have a suggestion as to what class of drug they may have been testing? There is no clear indication in the public press stories. The reaction seems to have been so extreme my first thought is that there is more likely to have been a cock-up in the manufacture and they were given something really nasty by mistake rather than it being a reaction to the intended drug molecule. Even so, such a bad reaction from milligramme quantities of anything is fairly scary.

Its an anti-CD28 humanised monclonal antibody.

Thanks. I'd looked for a thread before I posted and didn't spot your one.

Since it was an Ab I can more easily see why it could cause a calamitous generalised effect without needing contamination.
