If you James Randi people don't believe in ghosts, than how come people all around the world claim to see transeparent/lucid apparitions of the dead? :)
Not all these people can be nuts. :)

Boiled Water:
Fill pan about 3/4 full of water. Turn on stove to high. Wait for water to boil. There is no need to stir. Pour upon troll. Enjoy!

Amy is so full of contradictions that many people here have come to the conclusions that she's faking it and/or she's mentally ill.
oh and welcome!

Amy is what is commonly known as a, "troll." In more technical terms, she belongs to the species, boredia semi-inteligentius. This particular species has a tendency to be passive in physical settings, but in anonymous venues where there is no physical presence of others, they tend to be very provocative and post things that are intended to annoy and offend the particular sensibilites, norms, and expected values of others. For example, this speciman has posted postive bits on belief in spirits, psychics, fundamentalist Christianity, male dominance over women, rudeness to customers, and racism. The speciman has also penned unintelligble screeds on bikinis and trampolines. Unfortunately, some of us here have a habit of poking the trolls which is also how the troll thrives. Fortunately, the majority of trolls are also not very smart and fall into the maw of Public Notices eventually. Still, enviroments that hostile to a troll's thriving are few and far between.
It's true.

so what you are saying is that whereas previous trolls have found the rules based society of JREF too hostile for them to benefit long term from our poky-nourishment, AmyWilson has adapted to this environment. Is this finally the proof of "macro evolution" which the Cretinists and IDots have been waiting for?

Well, that remains to be seen. While more famous trolls such as mayday has continued to thrive here, she has not been immune to Public Notices Syndrome, if I recall correctly. Also, mayday's posting habits are rather sporadic, why Amy has been rather regular as of late. It's also true that Amy's posts are much more simplistic than mayday's. Still, I hold that it's far too soon to determine if this particular troll has managed to adapt. A postive in this matter would likely be indicated by continued, consistant posting at aproximately her current rate for several months or more without being afflicted by PNS.
It should be noted, however, she has been shown to be subject to Kittenation, Recipitis, and Parody.

However MayDay is a direct descendant of other trolls, (BigFig for example) with few adaptations, earlier verities where able to withstand PNS, however the subspecies of which AmyWilson is a member seems to have evolved a way of avoiding PNS, rather than just being resistant to it, a much more advanced, and dangerous adaptation.
Also, mayday's posting habits are rather sporadic, why Amy has been rather regular as of late. It's also true that Amy's posts are much more simplistic than mayday's. Still, I hold that it's far too soon to determine if this particular troll has managed to adapt. Well if my theory of the "descent of Amy" is correct, the high rate of posting is also linked to a fairly short life cycle, but one which has a high reproductive rate, we can see this from the fossilized remains of what I believe is AmyWilsons direct ancestor P.Aulisoneus. I just prey that either the mutation which lead to this new strain hampered its reproductive abilities or at the very least, maintained the inherently short lifespan.
It should be noted, however, she has been shown to be subject to Kittenation, Recipitis, and Parody.
However these measures have no noticeable effect on her posts, (god forbid she should begin to take an interest in kittens and coking!)furthermore these things have never been shown to be fatal to trolls in the way that PNS is.

Since this is a JREF forum, why not come up with some sort of troll test, so Amywillson can prove her sincerity in her beliefs or by declining to be tested show for once and for all the she is just rabble rosing. Surely there must be a way of testing her without asking her to give up her anonimity? You can think of it as a logic puzzle. The first person to come up with a fool proof Troll test, wins a life time supply of smily faces. :)

I just prefer a good old fashioned loyalty oath, to prove that one is not a troll. We, of course, would not allow AmyWilson to take such an oath, as she is a troll and if we let trolls take the loyalty oath, what would be the point? She could not deny that she was a troll in this case, because if she was not a troll, she would have taken the loyalty oath.

I once said on this forum that I believe in ghosts (inasmuch as I think sometimes people are seeing something that exists externally blah de blah).
Later I got an email from someone saying that Open Mind (remember him?) was telling people on the BBC message boards that I believed in ghosts and therefore I believed in ESP.

She would have to reproduce in order to pass the trait on to her offspring. A possibility of which I am extremely dubious.

Sort of like the plant louse? That would make sense due to the average Trolls disability to attract a suitable (or insuitable) mate....
