I need alittle help debunking this device, After perusing the powergreen website http://powergreen.tripod.com/Home.htm , I retrieved this little gem on the theory of operation.

How POWER GREEN works:

POWER GREEN influences the fuel feed in a flow-through process.
POWER GREEN creates an electrostatic charge of the hydrogen atoms within the hydrocarbon molecules and generates a change in the surface tension. By that there is a much better binding of the oxygen to the hydrocarbon and the final result is an optimized combustion. This leads to a cleaner and more complete combustion with a resulting reduction of fuel consumption without loss of power. The combustion chambers in the engine will be cleaned, the life time of the engine is improved and the overall performance, smoothness of the engine and development of revolution is increased.
POWER GREEN works on the basis of the advanced technology of permanent magnetic field.

Basically it’s a magnet the fuel flows across.

Now my high school science my be a bit rusty but how is it possible to put a static charge on an enclosed fluid (only the hydrogen atoms mind), grounded to the metal bits of the engine, Actually I’m fairly sure you can’t generate a static charge on a fluid, or that a magnet can't induce a static charge.

Power green makes claims of UP TO 22% saving in fuel consumption, and yet this amazingly simple device has eluded the best minds in the Auto and Aviation industries.

Hoax. Doesn't work.

Chance

There was a thread on this subject a few weeks ago that might give you a bit more information:

Magnetic Fuel Treatment (http://host.randi.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12049)

But yes, it's all a scam. If it worked our Government would mandate one of these devices be fitted to all vehicles for the energy savings alone.

[edited to add]

By the way Chance, you wouldn't be Chance the Gardener by any chance would you?

ironclast Thanks to the previous link, some good stuff in there. The reason I wanted some debunking material is our motorcycle magazine have started to run the powergreen ad, and I read in Randi’s commentary that the best way to silence this sort of stuff is to go direct to the editor of the magazine and bring it to their attention. Hopefully the magazine will take a bit of responsibility with the buying public and pull the ad.

Chance the gardener? No, not me.
