Poor Christians, beseiged by those nasty "Liberals". Typically, the
ammo used to support his thesis is common-sense offending anecdotes.
You could use anecdotes to support any old position you like. Surely there is some validity in critiquing the examples mentioned in the Amazon description, but to equate these collectively as being some sort of underground conspiracy is laughable.
As far as I'm concerned, any legal enterprise to eradicate specific religious content in the public sphere is fair game.

He's just whiny because the courts have more sense than he does.
Also note you are not supposed to cuss-- this is so filtering software doesn't block the site.

* A Georgia school board, after being threatened with a suit by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), deleted the word "Christmas" from the school calendar.
You have to admit this is silly.
* A Frederick County (Maryland) school employee was prohibited from passing out Christmas cards at school because it "may not be a legally protected right on a public school campus."
I certainly wouldn't mind getting a Christmas card, and I'm an atheist.
Unless this card says "Christ love's you, come to the new Christian Church on Chesnut Street or go to hell heathens!" I don't see why anyone would care? Silly as well.
* The ACLU went on the offensive when county road crews helped erect a religious sign along the highway even though no state funds were used for the sign and such crews regularly assist private groups when requested.
Now I see what they were doing. They were putting in stupid things to get people in an agreeable mindstate, then they throw out crap like this hoping we will still be in that mindset.
I don't want to see that crap while I'm out driving. If this is acceptable then I am going to go buy a sign saying "Satan rocks! God is a lowly worm compared to our Master SATAN!" and have it hoisted up in the middle of a highway where everyone has to see it. I get enough religious junkmail in my email, I certainly don't want anymore.

Great. I can't wait to read the latest attempt by the Religious Reich in this country to portray themselves as victims so that they can hide their agenda of turning this country into a theocracy. I read the examples in the book descriptions, most of them don't really seem all that unreasonable.
Oh well, I guess the neo-Hitlerians in this country can espouse as much BS as they want. It's a free country after all....for now at least.

You CAN censor the cusswords:
Example: You piece of s**t, or you ugly f**kwit.

Not sure why someone would sue, but it is apparently only recognizing the Christian holiday and not even Channukah (sp?).

Christmas is the Christian recognition of Jesus Christ's birth. It is religious in nature. If it was a more secular, Santa Claus one I wouldn't mind, but if it had the manger scene on it...

I thought Christmas had very little to do with anything except to give presents and share each other's company... Anyone can assign any religous meaning to any single day in the year, but that doesn't mean it actually represents that for others... So in this case, just because you think Christmas is about recognition of Jesus Christ's birth, doesn't mean others see it in the same light.

Sigh.. the (Rush) Limbaughfication of political and social discourse continues. How sad.
Most "Liberals" are Christians.
Unless the English language has become so perverted by knee-jerk talk radio that "Liberal" means non-Christian or "Conservative" means Christian.
Ugh...

The xians just want to use victimhood like all the other groups. Until they get religious graffiti of my money they can all go on a terminal hunger strike. Racial, ethnic, environmental, women and other political groups started out in the victim mode because at one time most of them were victims of the majority in power. But as things got better for those groups, they stayed in the victim mode because it works on the guilt of the alleged oppressors. Now Jesse Jackson is whining about NASCAR not having enough black people becaus NASCAR stopped sending him checks. This is too ridiculous, NASCAR just doesn't appeal to most blacks, it usually appeals to rednecks that enjoy watching cars turning left at high speeds. Most enviromental orgs are just anti-freemarket whiners that don't really do much to improve the environment. And the only thing left for NOW to whine about is a well known private golf club not allowing women to be members.
The xians just want to be oppressed so they can be victims and whine and get more money.

It never ceases to amaze me how Christians try to portray themselves as a victimized minority in the US when they are a vast majority and hold a great deal of the power. Their definition of persecution usually boils down to "being prevented from forcing our religion upon others" It irritates me to no end

I am usually concerned about these types of things because very often the story gets greatly distorted. One of those, "All he wanted to do was to say a simple prayer," when the real truth is that he tried leading the class in prayer, or something like that.
The stories presented do not necessarily represent the truth. In each case, I would have to verify the story before getting too concerned about it.

That's a good point too. How often do you hear from the likes of Pat Robertson that school children are forbidden to even pray silently or have a bible in public school when theer are no cases of students being punished for either of those activities

It's certainly a possibility that the vignettes described were distorted, and this definitely bears investigation.
However, I still think that even if the stories were absolutely true,
they're far from being the smoking gun that proves that the 'Elders of Atheism' are orchestrating a worldwide war against Christiandom.
In the silly sounding examples, it may have just been an overzealous individual or local group that overreacted.
