Ha, that's just what they want you to think

The truth is that the `white chair', as you call it, is merely the projection into our Universe of a pandimensional murderous alien being, which has surreptitiously masterminded most of the evil acts in human history.

It is obvious that the alien must be highly dimensional, else it wouldn't be able to be observed in as many locations simultaneously (in our limited perception).

Forget the chair, how much for the car?

Ahh speaking of general hysterics!!!

not long ago, you could have pretty decent dusters and demons for 500 bucks

5000 for a REALLY nice one (not getting silly with race cars)

Now thanks to this stupid Barret Jackson auction, collectors with NO intentions of ever driving the cars have jacked the prices up

Some idiot collector offered me 30,000 dollars for my car last saturday at a cruise!

I was flabbergasted. Yes inside it has a 10k$ motor, another 15k$ worth of fuel injection, instrumentation, and computer junk, and then a gajillion on cage, suspension and chasis. But this guy just wanted "any mopar"!!! I am on the hunt for some beater (yes even more dented than mine) 500 dollar duster to take out next saturday and sell to these loonies...

I can't believe this mania

Price a Chevelle lately??? YEESH end the national debt

Supply and demand. It used to rare for anyone to keep an old muscle car, I mean you could pick them up anywhere, and so many of them were scrapped and/or just rusted away, so that now, they are rare. It's all a cycle.

I have looked, and I have no white chairs at all :(

Aah, poor Nick Berg. I once had a conversation with a guy in a bar that went like this:
Guy: "And that Nick Berg guy, the U.S. faked that video."
"What do you mean?
"Don't you find it even a little bit suspicious that the guy in that video was wearing orange overalls, just like the Iraqi prisioners wear?
"I think that's the point the captors were trying to make. How do you explain the fact that Berg's body and head were found?"
Silence.
"His family got the body back. The funeral was yesterday."
Silence.
"Are you saying that the U.S. expertly faked a video of Berg being beheaded AND also beheaded Berg?"
Silence.
"Bartender, I'll have another. What do you have that's stronger?"

Wanna hear somethign really freaky?

My parents had two chairs like that, and a matching table.

A big storm came through, lightning, rain, even a tornado.

The next morning, the chairs were gone. I tell you, it's like they knew what was coming and vacated the area!

More evidence:

The insurance company came by to assess the damage, and simply accepted our word when we told them the chairs were missing. I think they're in on it. They didn't question because thier chair-shaped lackeys had already reported in.

On a serious note, I'd like to add that that style of chair is VERY popular in Iraq, for several reasons:

1) They're cheap. When your income is on the order of $5 a week, a $3 plastic chair is a seat of honor.

2) We brought a bunch with us. They were already being sold there, but many, many, many military units took some of these with them or had them shipped over. Why? They're cheap, and lightweight (lower shipping costs). Many fo these "wandered" outside our bases and camps.

3) American goods are not unknown over there. They do have many of the same products we do (but not all). A lot of knock-offs, as well.

"I certainly would need to be convinced it [the decapitation video] was authentic," Dr John Simpson, executive director for surgical affairs at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, said from New Zealand. Echoing Dr Simpson's criticism, when this journalist asked forensic death expert Jon Nordby, PhD and fellow of the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators, whether he believed the Berg decapitation video had been "staged", Nordby replied: "Yes, I think that's the best explanation of it." ...."I would have thought that all the people in the vicinity would have been covered in blood, in a matter of seconds ... if it was genuine," said Simpson. Notably, the act's perpetrators appeared far from so. And separately Nordby observed: "I think that by the time they're ... on his head, he's already dead."

After his release, Berg travelled to Baghdad and the $30-a-night Al-Fanar Hotel. A fellow hotel guest told Newsday that Berg recounted how Iraqi police had quickly handed him to US authorities in Mosul and that he had been held the entire time in a jail where his guards were US soldiers.

Berg was in Baghdad to win contracts for his family firm, Prometheus Methods Tower Service, a provider of communications facilities. He often "worked at night on a tower in the neighbourhood of Abu Ghraib", according to The New York Times.

For what it's worth, I watched the Berg decapitation video at the time, and I thought it didn't look right. To my mind, it was edited to look as if it were all a single take, but I suspected that, in actual fact, what was decapitated was Berg's corpse. I'm speculating here, but I'd suspect he was killed off-camera, possibly by having his throat cut (it's no huge challenge finding an Arab who can skillfully slit a throat, given the ritual slaughtering of a goat or sheep at Eid), and the half hour of sawing away at the neck with a knife until his head finally came loose was edited out, or simply not filmed at all.

So what does this prove? Not much. I would surmise that the video was intended to function as a piece of propaganda by showing among others that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, purportedly the guy wielding the knife, is so strong and skilled with a blade that he can decapitate a struggling prisoner in under a minute using nothing larger than a knife. So that's a fabrication, which is no big surprise, and I'd wager the guy with the knife isn't actually al-Zarqawi either. But that doesn't prove that Berg wasn't kidnapped and murdered by elements of the insurgency, most likely non-Iraqi jihadists.

The lawn chair proves naff-all. Cheap, plastic, thirteen-to-the-dozen, made in China lawn chair, found in shops all over the Middle East, and in fact all over the world, as this thread demonstrates. Who says the one in Abu Ghraib was brought there by the Americans anyway? The Americans didn't build Abu Ghraib, and they weren't the first to operate it, so what reason is there to assume that the chair hadn't been left behind by the prison's previous occupants?

More seriously, I've seen a few different snuff-videos of decapitations now, including one from Serbia, and another from Kosovo. In all of them, the victim was most definitely alive at the time - one was still shreiking as his throat was being cut (that was really freaking dreadful to watch :(). I might point out that I did not choose to watch them - one of the now-banned pests on this forum sent them to me.

So while it may be true that a suddenly decapitated person (like with a samurai sword) will indeed have blood spurting "like a fountain", the slower process of cutting the throat and then hacking with a kitchen knife to remove the head does tend to preclude that situation. The victim loses blood in a slower manner, and dies slower (and more painfully, no doubt), so blood pressure is lost over a period of time, not suddenly.

In the above instances, there was indeed much blood, but it "surged" rather than "fountained". More like knocking over a jug full of it. Given the poor quality of the video, maybe about two litres (quarts) in volume was apparent at the gruesome end.

Honestly, I feel really quite ill when I think on those videos again...

[QUOTE=Zep;1575690]So while it may be true that a suddenly decapitated person (like with a samurai sword) /QUOTE]

Sorry to keep the grisly topic going but I thought you had to either be very skilled or lucky to achieve one stroke decapitation, bones are dense enough to stop most blade strokes. Having had to cut up large joints of meat, just swinging at it with an expensive knife will often mean a ruined knife, that's why you seperate the joints and cut carefully around.

The guillotine was, as far as I know, the only reliable method for achieving this. Even the famed Headsmans Axe (7-10lb head on a 5 foot shaft) often needed two or three blows to achieve full 'seperation'

I think for the fountain effect you need to open an artery. Cutting the throat in the Halal method cuts the jugular vein first, which is under much lower pressure. We did discuss the relative pressures here when the Berg video first appeared.

I haven't had the stomach to watch the video more than once - and when I did it was right after its release. I have, however, seen just about all of them, if for nothing else to remind myself exactly what visions the "freedom fighters" have dancing in their heads as they load their AK47s/strap on Semtex. Anyway, that's all beside the point. I recall thinking exactly the same thing when the Daniel Pearl video was released. He gives the canned speech, then the camera goes dead and when it's turned back on, Sayid Sheikh is finishing cutting through the last of the tissue - he's stone dead at that point. I originally thought that Pearl had put up enough of a fight to require the camera-man's assistance, and they edited that out. But now I think it might just have been an edit for concision.

The worst, absolute worst, of these videos is the Bangladeshi truck drivers - just guys there to make a living. Only one was beheaded, the rest were shot. But what was most horrible was they screwed it up, and you could see and hear him trying to breathe for a few second before they finished. These are the people the CTs are indirectly supporting.

Holy thread resurrection. Might as well post this (true) update.

A couple months ago I was sitting in one of our two chairs that are just like the dreaded terrorist chairs, while sharpening the blade of my new fauchard (briar-axe) on an electric grinding wheel. I was shifting in the seat to get my knee out of the way of the handle when suddenly the chair legs broke. (No, I don't weigh much, but the chair was old and brittle.) I went sprawling backward, twisting and trying to keep from falling on the sharp edge. Landed right on my bad knee -- doesn't Murphy watch over us all? -- and wrenched my hip pretty nastily too. Took several days to recover.

If that's not proof those chairs are the spawn of an unnatural alliance between Satan and Bin Laden, I don't know what is.

Well if you compare the voice in berg, armstrong and other audio and videos from Abu Musab it sounds alike.

You might be interested to know that on December 7th 2004. Al-Qaeda in Iraq released a tribute video to the Martyrs Abu Anas al-Shami & Abu Abdullah.
Abu Anas al-Shami was the one on Zarqawis left side in the Berg video.
Abu Abdullah was his "bodyguard" and was killed with him on Sept 16th 2004 near the Abu Ghraib Prison complex in a missile strike on their car.
