CFLarsen

Benny Hinn is coming to Denmark. I already have quite a lot about him, but I need more. All the info anyone has on him, how he works, especially verifiable stories. People going on record.

And I need it now.

Don't post the info in this thread. Email me at editor@skepticreport.com instead.

Any help is much, much appreciated. Let's see what the skeptics can do.

Thanks!

Lucky, lucky Denmark. :rr:

I recently did some research into Hinn, as I was considering putting together a StopKaz-type site about him, but never got beyond slogging through many of the web pages out there about him.

Claus, my email is down for the moment, so I'll have to do this here.

The majority of articles about Hinn on the web tend to be criticizing him from a scriptural point of view.

One excellent article, written by (of all people) Joe Bob Briggs, is here:

http://www.thedoormagazine.com/theheretic.html

The people at thedoormagazine.com are Christians who investigate frauds like Hinn. They also have some DVDs about him available. I do not know the content, nor whether it could get to you in time.

My impression is that Benny Hill had more dignity and decency than Benny Hinn has.

Not mine. I'll admit to finding Hill funny sometimes. Kinda.

As to which is more annoying: Hinn or Hill, I would give Hinn the edge, but only because Hill is dead.

Here is a very good CBC documentary about him:

The letters are also very interesting.

(I know you asked us not to post here, but I wanted this link to be generally available.)

Question: Is this the guy who heals people by whacking them with his jacket?I believe that is sometimes part of his routine, but he's by no means the only one to do it.

He also sometimes just gestures at the person from a distance, and they fall down, "healed." He refers to it as shooting them with his "holy ghost gun."

Benny Hinn rarely heals people on stage if you notice. He brings up people that claim to have already been healed that night. They testify and he knocks em down.

Not really, the hair does his thinking.

Perhaps. But I also have other requests out in other places, so it would be easier if people would email it to me.

I've heard Bob Jones III say he's not Christian, and thus a satanic pretender (or something to that effect). He's very much of the P.T. Barnum school of religion.

I faintly remember some documentary about Benny Hinn that featured his (ex?) manager saying he told Benny to stop telling the "pacemaker poke" and "Carribean resurrection" tales, or something like that. He supposedly magically poked out someone's pacemaker, and cast true resurrection on some guy on a ship. Both were, of course, fabricated, but I think these were extra-fictional, since he never went to the places where these events supposedly happened.

Does that ring any bells for anyone?

Don't know how many times I have to repeat this...

It's all about the MONEY!

Whenever I think of Hinn, I think back to this song:

Send Me Your Money by Suicidal Tendencies

I was in meditation and prayer last night
I was awoken by a shining bright light
Overhead a glorious spirit
He gave me a message and you all need to hear it

(Chorus)
Send me your money
That's what he said, he said to
Send me your money
...
Here comes another con hiding behind a collar
His only god is the almighty dollar
He ain't no prophet, he ain't healer
He's just a two bit godd@mn money stealer

If everyone were to simply e-mail their links and not posot them here, then you might get a lot of duplicates. Posting responses here avoids that problem and provides a good listing for future JREFers who may want the same information.

He refers to it as shooting them with his "holy ghost gun."

I've never heard him say that, but I did hear him once complain about his critics and say "Sometimes I wish God would give me a Holy Ghost machine gun. [I'd] blow your head off." He later recanted his belief in the appropriateness of spritual automatic weapons.

The hair is the secret to his work. The FSM hides in there and uses Hinn as a messanger.

CFLarsen, did you by any chance get DR1's "Sondag" (today, april 30th) on tape? I didn't, but it contained a rather nice debunc on Benny Hinn by a magician. He basicly demonstrated the methods this "Miracle" worker used. Really nice.....

ETA: They are repeating it monday from 12.10 to 12.40.

I got it alright. You bet I did.

Indeed. Michael Ahlstrand did very well.

It will be covered in the next issue of Swift. Stay tuned.

Does he do the old "one leg shorter than the other" stunt or something?

My brain goes a little wonky when I see this thread title and I, for one moment, think someone is looking for info on "Benny Hill". And I think - "man, I bet that's a really awesome thread!" Quickly, I become dissappointed.
