Why do the trolls insist on using their own made-up words and thinking they are clever because of it?

Franko used A-theist.
S&S is using Foolosophy.

Are these losers just desperate for attention?

Foolosophy is a perfectly cromulent word.

It hardly embiggens the smallest man.

I've seen it go both ways though.

"Dead Guy On a Stick"
"Cretinism"

but my favorite is one I use to mock the invariable deep southern accents of the Cretinists.

"EVILution."

Where do phrases like "materialist metaphysic" fit in?

I don't know. Apparently, not all of them use made-up words. For instance, your opening post contains no made-up words at all. :D

But we use words like woo-woo and creduloid, too. Making up new words is fun.

The problem comes when people insist on using a loaded word during a serious discussion of a topic. For example, many believers use the word debunker in a loaded manner, then balk when I use the word with its normal meaning. That's annoying.

Dear Mr. thaiboxerken,

The answer is absurdly simple. Both sides enjoy taking jabs at the other.

Are you claiming that non-trolls don't make up their own words?

Sincerely,

S. H.

My personal favorite is pseudo-skeptic (as if accepting ideas without any evidence makes you the real skeptic, feh!)

But I do agree with some of the other posters that we do it to, with words like woo-woo and cretinist, so I guess it's fair

I kind of like fundomoron, made up words in general are fun.
I kind of like himbo and others I can't think of now.
I have noticed that when people spend a lot of time with a small group say about 5-20 people wether it's a class or group at work. The group starts making up words as an inside joke, also they use code words that mean other things so they can speak freely around 'the others' that aren't included in the group.
For example my last place of employment the sales manager just happened to be a closet homosexual. I saw him leave a gay legal fundraiser with another man (my 10 year reunion was held near it). I kept it a secret until he passed me up for a promotion, it was right around the time South Park first came out, so we started calling him 'Sparky' like the gay dog in the one episode. So most of the sales force talked about sparky all the time and only we knew about it. I can think of other examples but it would take too long to explain like this one.

No, it just seems to me that certain trolls in here are nigh-dependant on these catch words. They think the words are clever and, somehow, earth-shattering.

The "non-trolls" tend not to use their own made up words so regularly. Words like "woo woo" and "troll" are used in this way, but I don't know who came up with those.
