Cellulose is a long-chain polymeric polysaccharide carbohydrate, of beta-glucose. It forms the primary structural component of green plants. The primary cell wall of green plants is made primarily of cellulose; the secondary wall contains cellulose with variable amounts of lignin. Lignin and cellulose, considered together, are termed lignocellulose, which (as wood) is the most common biopolymer on Earth.

Cellulose is a common material in plant cell walls and was first noted as such in 1838. It occurs naturally in almost pure form in cotton fiber. In combination with lignin and hemicellulose, it is found in all plant material. Cellulose is the most abundant form of living terrestrial biomass (R.L. Crawford 1981).

Some animals, particularly ruminants and termites, can digest cellulose with the help of symbiotic micro-organisms - see methanogen. Cellulose is not digestible by humans, and is often referred to as 'dietary fibre' or 'roughage', acting as a hydrophilic bulking agent for faeces.

The Bering Strait is a sea strait between Cape Dezhnev, Russia, the easternmost point (169°43' W) of the Asian continent and Cape Prince of Wales, Alaska, the westernmost point (168°05' W) of the American continent, with latitude of about 65° 40' North, slightly south of the polar circle.

The strait is approximately 85 km (58 mi) wide, with a depth of 30–50 m (100–165 ft) and connects the Chukchi Sea (part of the Arctic Ocean) in the north with the Bering Sea (part of the Pacific Ocean) in the south. It is named after Vitus Bering, a Danish-born Russian explorer who crossed the strait in 1728.

The stockpiles of biosolids at the Eastern Treatment Plant, which opened in 1975, are different from those at the Western Treatment Plant, which has been in operation since 1897. Sewage has been treated at the Western Treatment Plant for more than 100 years and the biosolids stored there contain different types and levels of contaminants to those at the Eastern Treatment Plant.

These physical differences are the reason we have set different targets for use of the biosolids generated at each of our treatment plants.

At the Eastern Treatment Plant, we aim to:

* Use biosolids generated each year beneficially by 2005
* Reduce the stockpile of biosolids to sustainable levels by 2010.

At the Western Treatment Plant, we aim to:

* Use biosolids generated each year beneficially by 2010
* Reduce the stockpile of biosolids to sustainable levels over the long-term.

Some religious views, the most hateful and harmful - yes, I know a few. But thinking about it, you are right that I can hardly find a sceptic who would say it in that generalizing manner. But the last part - "Religion is just a tool used to turn people away from science" - yes, lots of sceptics say that, and I believe you can find several on this forum who would say that.

Consider a fluid-filled domain in an equilibrium state of statistically isotropic turbulence. We define two length scales: \ell_F, a length scale associated with the macroscopic forcing that drives the turbulence, and \ell_{\nu}, a microscopic length scale that is associated with the viscous dissipation of energy.

In the cases where \ell_F >> \ell_{\nu}, it follows from dimensional considerations that the energy spectrum of the velocity field in the wavenumber range

\ell_F^{-1} << k << \ell_{\nu}^{-1}

(known as the "inertial range") follows the scaling law

E(k) \propto k^{-5/3}.

This is known as the Kolmogorov turbulent spectrum [1].

I wasn't attempting to do anything "revealing". I thought everyone had seen posts stating opinions like these, but since you ask, I think these quotes are not too far from what I talked about.

I agree with Dawkins central point that Religion is a waste of time, divisive and tool for great harm in the current political climate.
[Quoting the post recited above] Was there ever a time it wasn't, going back to the very first time somebody said, "Ok, you keep waving your arms in a way we will, in thousands of years, consider 'knocking on wood', for the purpose of keeping the evil spirits away, and I'll bring you some bread and meat. You do important work here."
Religion is a device used by aggressors to dehumanise their opponents and justify their campaigns. If your propaganda teaches that God is on your side, and your opponents are infidels/godless heathens... whatever, then the morale of your troops will naturally be better. Everyone wants to fight on the side of righteousness.

I omitted some less polite ones that I considered unlikely to reflect Amy's true nature in the way these selections doubtless do.

Amy's horoscope for today says "Pay attention to the stimuli around you. There's a lot to take in, and you'll learn. When you move slowly and keep a more realistic mindset, you're able to do so much more than you originally envisioned. In other words, it's time to stop beating yourself up for not being superhuman."

OK then think about this, something I have been tossing around in my head for a while now. I may have part of this wrong so bare with me.

going back to the time when God created people he looked to the angels and asked "should I give them free will" the only one to reply was Satan his ark angel, who said no they will destroy themselves with it, so he was cast out of heaven for speaking up wene asked, and took one third of Gods angels with him??

OR

how about this alternate interpretation
going back to the time when God created people he looked to the angels and asked "should I give them free will" the only one to reply was Satan his ark angel, who said no they will destroy themselves with it, and God said I understand your concern Lucifer, take one third of my angels and go down to earth and see if they are worthy of this gift.

which would make Satan not evil at all, the people who fail these test and refuse to take responsibility for their actions would be the evil ones, and these people may need a scape goat so they blame the one who was sent down to test us.

so IF Science is just a tool used by Satan who uses it turn people away from God and The Light. its the people who turn away from God that MAY be considered evil Not Satan and not science

one more thing, we where given the gift of free will and then was tested to see if we are worthy of this gift, if we are seen as worthy what will the next gift be and what will the test consist of
