Thought I'd share this article about the Congo as you don't hear about it that often. It's fairly long and very depressing but it's well worth a read:

it just goes to show that for all our "civilisation" humans are capable of just about anything....:(
the trouble with media coverage of such atrocities is one of emotional fatigue....there are so many terrible issues affecting Africans that we'd rather not hear about them....and i guess that's another pretty reprehensible human trait....

The first thing I think of when I read this kind of stuff is "How do we stop these people from coming over here?"
The cops fish human torsos out of the Thames river in England, you know; the remains of victims used in black voodoo ceremonies.
Let's get our priorities straight before we worry about all those poor screwed-up Africans.

By makeing sure that life is good enough at home for them not to want to.

That happened once. The person came from Nigeria. For a number of reasons Voodoo makes little sense as a reason.

The ones that are the problem are not the ones escaping to the west, but the ones running around with ak-47s back home.

You know it's possible to be against voodoo murder both here, in Africa and anywhere else, it's not mutually exclusive.
As for worrying about "poor screwed-up Africans" I generally worry about people that's being terrorised, tortured, raped, murdered etc. by thugs where ever they are, and think that one of the small ways we could start to do something about it is to actually know what's going on.
