Well, that was faster than expected. After she lost all her credibility by not resigning last time I thought she would at least try and cling on to what little power she had for a while.

Claire Short should be a role model not only for British politicians but for any politician that have convictions.
Her resignation just calls the attention about the pervert negociations that Bush and Blair are doing behind the UN.

I'll admit I've no real idea of why she didn't carry through her threat to resign before the war, so couldn't say how much credibility she lost from not doing it (OTOH Robin Cook's resignation didn't exactly rocket his credibility levels). I think her reasons for resigning are commendable, although I'm a bit suspicious of her timing and therefore how genuine she is. I suspect that New Labour MPs are starting to scent Tony Blair's blood in the air...

She obviously has no credibility. Donīt let the door hit you on your way out, you hippo.

I don't understand why everybody say that she has no credibility just because she decided to resign later.
Why don't you question Blair's and Bush's credibility as well?
They said that they would allow the UN to take control over Iraq's transitional government and they haven't respected such agreement and probably they won't.
So who has more credibility?

What credibility? ;) Whatever credibility Blair may have had before, it started slide some point after the WTC attack when he decided to go for world statesman status (I recall the US admin calling him "Washington's no. 1 ambassador" or some such?). My problem with Clare Short is that she took a principled stand on getting UN approval for invading Iraq by threatening to resign if it wasn't obtained; it wasn't and she didn't. I admit I've got no idea what went on "behind the scenes" to make her change her mind, and if she can give a reason that justifies her actions I'll revise my opinion.

Look, I don't fault her for that. When it became obvious that Chirac had a one ward vocabulary consisting of "no", it was obvious Un approval was never coming. I'm sure she wasn't going to let a french jackass force her to resign. :)

That word would be "non" anyway :p and maybe she wasn't going to let a US chimp and his lapdog force her to resign either? ;) :D
