Is anyone else having problems lately?
I get an email sent, and it arrives hours later.
I recently chose to use their new Hotmail beta software, which was a buggy pile of crap, I thought. Maybe they're punishing me for getting rid of it.

Are people still using hotmail?

If you're in the UK, it's googlemail rather than gmail, but I agree that it rocks.
Hotmail is, like, so 2002.

I have gmail too. But some people don't use that address, and I dunno, I don't like change.

I've had similar problems with Hotmail lately.
But, as others have said, that's why I primarily use Gmail.

HotSnail more like.
It's a bloody outrage.
I'm bordering on miffed, actually.

Be glad you can even access your hotmail.
I've been trying to open mine for days. This has been happening every month or so lately. I don't know whether to blame hotmail or china but it's very annoying.
Grr...

I bloody well nearly am!
I swear, if this keeps up, someone is going to recieve a letter showing that I am, indeed, not entirely happy.

This just sent.
To whom it may concern,
This email was sent to you on the 8th of may. As you're reading it now, I'll assume it's at least June. I'm afraid your email service is getting slower and slower, and if things do not improve, I will be forced to take action, starting with a second email, and following up with a third if neccesary.
Then I will probably stop, because four is just silly.
Quite frankly, I'm miffed.
It has also come to my attention that the Hotmail section labelled "Sent Messages", perhaps misleadingly, does not actually contain my "Sent Messages", and in fact contains nothing at all. Although a nice feature to have, I would recommend renaming this section to "Nothing Goes Here", so as not to confuse.
Is there an update I can purchase to make your email service work? Apart from that minor niggle, I am a thoroughly satisfied customer.
Thank you for your time,
Jim

An excellent letter, thoroughly imparting the slight inconvenience you have encountered. I commend your brevity.
You need to tick a box to save a message as 'sent', and even then it deletes it after 30 days. That is precisely the reason I switched to Google. A pox on Hotmail and their inattention to the rudiments of net needs.

I have to tick a box?!
The NERVE of it.
I despair, I really do.

Wait, WAIT. Hold the phone.
They then DELETE it, you say? After 30 days? Even after I ticked the box?
This is too much...

Perhaps your email was a little premature. In light of this new information, you might want to crank your current mood up to 'indignant'.

I let it go for a while, but it just carried on and on. I just lost it.

You lost the letter?
Perhaps Hotmail deleted it after 30 days. Did you tick any boxes?

No, I let my rage build up until it was affecting my life in a negative way, causing me to be overcome with miffedness.
I didn't even know the silly boxes existed back then.
I just saw it. It says Copy To Sent Messages in tiny letters. But get this. There is also an option in Options to change it.
Has the whole world gone mad?

The whole world started mad. But it has gone downhill lately.
Did you try the new BETA version from MSN? I did, briefly. It was slower. I then had to revert to standard Hotmail as the Beta would not display legibly on a Soviet monitor. I tried to register for it again, but I guess you only get one shot.

Screw Hotmail. Everyone I know who uses it has trouble. I use Yahoo mail, but gmail is good, too.

My biggest beef with Hotmail: no way to search messages. C'mon, Microsloths, how hard a feature would that be to include?
I switched to gmail a while back and never looked back.

I've switched to gmail completely now.

Anyone noticed that, whenever Penn Jillette mentions email on his radio show (www.pennradio.com), he actually says "gmail"? He just slips in the brand name.
I presume he is being sponsored?

Maybe he just calls email 'geemail', I have called it that for about ten years and was quite surprised when Google came out with real gmail.

Why?
tkingdoll
15th May 2006, 11:28 AM
Why?
Dunno. It's quite common to tag a consonant on to words beginning with vowels, I'm not sure why though. Lots of people I know do it. Perhaps it's a way of making a generic word cuter or more familar. I only do it in casual company, not in business meetings or anything.
I also call the internet 'jinternet', although because of Peter Kay, many people call it 'tinternet'.
I also say 'humbrella'.

Now everyone please...calm down! It's no good taking it out on others by squirming in your chair, looking displeased, and picking lint off your sleeve. Such displays of outright rudeness get you nowhere.
No doubt the Hotmail gentlefolk will explain the problems clearly in the fullness of time.
