Says McKellen: "Well, I've often thought the Bible should have a disclaimer in the front saying this is fiction. I mean, walking on water, it takes an act of faith. And I have faith in this movie. Not that it's true, not that it's factual, but that it's a jolly good story. And I think audiences are clever enough and bright enough to separate out fact and fiction, and discuss the thing after they've seen it."

Magneto just needs to destroy those who want to ban the movie.

Yeah, they're really good at the whole fact fiction thing! :oldroll:

Gandalf could do a better job of it. But he's a good guy and he wouldn't do it unless they were orcs.

I just realized, [totally needless derail] that Sir Ian will be playing on two screens this weekend.

And that the fam will make me choose one. (Yiss, they're cheap barstids. Point?)

And that I can't really lose. I don't get those very often.
That's very cool.

[/end totally needless derail]

What's the other one?

Oh, and I've frequently wanted to kiss Sir Ian.

X-Men. I think I got outvoted, and we're going to that, instead of Da Vinci. I traded my vote for popcorn and Ju-Jubes. :)

ETA: wait, it may be next weekend, so we'll do Da Vinci if that's so. (My kids never get anything right. :))

Saw the movie tonight. Not bad. But if I hadn't read the book, I think I would have had trouble with it, and there were a couple of changes from the book that I thought were really poor choices for change.

I didn't have many problems with it, and actually thought it get alot of unfair reviews.

All I heard leading up to it was how bad it was. Some friends I have a tradition with of seeing a really bad movie with every few months decided this could be the object of our derision and went to see it. Then it turned out to be a half-decent,even fun, movie. Ruined my weekend.

If christians could do that reliably, they wouldn't be christians in the first place.
