View Full Version : MySpace Technical Question

A little over a week ago, my two MySpace-addicted daughters started complaining that certain things had stopped working on MySpace pages.

Some videos which had worked before now simply showed as a white square on the page.

Same with some audio files.

I thought perhaps it had something to do with the fact that I had installed Nero6 on our PC at around that time - maybe it had associated some file types with itself, , but didn't have the time to look into it.

Tonight I looked into it, and it seems a bit more complex than just Nero having associated some file types with itself.

I found out that while these videos/music don't work when my daughters are logged into XP, they DO work when I am logged in (I am an administrator, they are not). I changed one of my daughters' XP account to an administrator and bingo, the files now load correctly for her.

So, any ideas on how I can resolve this so that these MySpace features will work correctly on my computer for non-admins?

An example of a page where one of these issues happens on my PC is:

http://www.myspace.com/bipolarrocks

When it works, a MySpace standalone player show up in the upper right corner of the page. When it does not, that area is just blank white.

I would appreciate any thoughts you might have on this.

The MySpace player is actually a Flash program. After a little bit of googling I found an Adobe tech note related to your problem.

Problems running Flash Player 8.0.24.0 ActiveX control after installation when logged in as Restricted User on Windows (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=624850b5)

Thanks so much, I'll give that a try this evening!
