Why doesn't this topic belong in "General Skepticism and the Paranormal" ?

ETA (after reading beerina's post) --- or move it into "Religion and Philosophy" ?

To any religious, all I ask is that you look at God as he throws me into lava in Hell, much like the Emperor kept shooting lightning bolts at Luke, enjoying it, and wonder what the hell He is thinking.

Either that, or order pizza since nothing is gonna happen.

It occurs to me any terrorist worth their salt would use that exact day to perform an attack, with the hopes of people panicking and throwing the US into a totalitarian theocracy.

Eh, I've had my fill of cynicism for today. :rolleyes:

Because it's the freak'n UN! This event is a convergence of current events and Bibilical prophecy. The end is near! Repent!

i didnt read the whole article, cause, frankly, i dont have time for that nonsense, but i am curious where they get their "85%" figure.

As has been well-documented, nuclear weapons have a 15% failure rate. That is why they must be launched together in massive numbers, to assure detruction of the targets. Any terror attack on the UN will only consist of ONE nuke, and it will display the typical failure rate of nuclear bombs, so there is an 85% chance of it exploding. To overcome this statistical failure rate, the terrorists would have to organize several nuclear weapons at the same time. This is called 'redundancy' in the military.

What a waste of a perfectly good nuke....

What a waste of a perfectly good nuke....Why? Other than the inconvenience to Manny and Harry and my cow-orkers in our lower Manhattan office, it would:

Remove a blight from the Turtle Bay area;
Permanently remove from the face of the earth legions of diplomats representing tyrannies, tinpot dictatorships, banana republics, socialist bedwetters, al Qaeda sympathizers/enablers and Euroweenies;
Make available for useful development a large vacant lot in midtown Manhattan, development that would pay taxes to support Manhattan's infrastructure, instead of being a festering parasite on it;
Significantly alleviate Manhattan's illegal parking problem;
Make for cool 6:00 news videotape. Admit it: You love seeing controlled demolition of some old Vegas hotel. Imagine the controlled demolition of five square miles.

Sorry, I meant it seemed a waste to nuke something that was slowly imploding on its own, anyway. ;)

Well, I don't find anything funny about an A-bomb going off in my native city, or the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocents, so I'm not too thrilled with the smarmy cracks about the UN getting what it deserves.

However, the linked post is fairly hilarious. At least they admit that they'll look like "Turkeys" and "Wackos" if this doesn't happen.

However, when it doesn't, they'll put up another web page saying that their prayers prevented the bomb from going off....this time. :boggled:

just an update...is this site for real? here's a bit of what they say (from here (http://www.truebiblecode.com/nyc.html)):

"It is certainly true that: No nukes is good nukes! But just because we got the date wrong (3 times) does not mean that the scriptural threat has evaporated. It is still there in black and white in bible symbolism. So we still have the almost impossible task of persuading a typical New Yorker with faith in God, that the Bible predicts the very day and place of the first terrorist nuke."

"same time tomorrow? We must get it right one day."

I've been busy the past few days and haven't had a chance to read the paper. Is the UN still standing?
