I just listened to a 30min "infomercial" on a local radio station for this product:

http://www.purityproducts.com/product.asp?sku=355

What's the skinny on this stuff? The advertisement was textbook snake oil salesmanship full of all kinds of testimonials.

There was talk of "reducing the molecular weight" of the HA molecule...

say what?

http://ms.about.com/od/newresearch/a/Hyaluronan.htm might help some - but, yes, as advertised bogus is a gentle word.

Yeah, I'm talking about taking this orally for it's "age defying" effects...

Now that is just being plain silly:D

What is the impact of digestion on hyluronic acid? How is it handled once it reaches the plasma.

Can anyone point to any evidence?

Well, this is where they were claiming that they had changed the "molecular weight" in order to allow absorption....

Well, this is where they were claiming that they had changed the "molecular weight" in order to allow absorption....

When I worked at the Karolinska Institute, there was a researcher that changed the diameter and the molecular weight of growth hormone and insulin, making it possible to administer them orally. Something that is impossible to do with normal GH and insulin. He had no idea how the hormones survived degradation, were transported in the blood or their mechanism. He just saw that the biological effect was identical with injected GH and insulin.
Interestingly he used hyaluronic acid in the orally adminstered cocktail...

Just my two pennies worth of thought...

Sincerely, krx
