View Full Version : Does the general US public need to be informed of changes in alert levels?

Today once again the alert is moved to Orange. I have to fly tonight- won't that be fun!

News is reporting that there is "chatter" Can somebody explain to me what that chatter means? if they follow the chatter, can't they just trace it to people and bust them?

Anyway, they were saying they think there is a high possibility of a major domestic terrorist attack.

I agree that police departments, fire departments and the like should be prepared. But personally, it just freaks me out. I can do nothing- if I see something suspicious I would report it no matter the alert level. I also am not going to change my routine- I need to fly, and I will fly tonight. It just tugs on my nerves, and causes all kinds of anxiety. I understand it is a personal failing, but I am a little tired of the shifts.

Good thing for your sanity you don't live in Israel.

I have been in Israel several times. I think it is very different. One, the levels here go up and down, in Israel it is consistently high. Two, Israel has a very tight (albeit not 100% ) security system, so people are already on alert, and chances of attack are less. Frankly, US has many more soft targets and opportunities than Israel.
