Found a cow with mad cow disease in Canada. Sock Market took a hit.

"TORONTO - A cow in Alberta has been diagnosed with mad cow disease, Canadian officials announced Tuesday — the first known case in North America in a decade.
U.S. health officials immediately banned imports of cattle, beef, beef-based products and animal feed from Canada."

Yahoo news

"Shares of beef producers and retailers sagged on the news. Tyson Foods dropped 71 cents to $8.76, while Outback Steakhouse lost $1.12 to $35.50 and McDonald's fell $1.25 to $16.91. "

Edited to clarify:
This deals with beef. It does not refer to Françoise Ducros.
Just felt I had to make that clear.

"TORONTO - The United States banned all beef imports from Canada after a lone case of mad cow disease was discovered in the heart of Canada's cattle country on Tuesday."
Yahoo News.

A lone case and we ban it all?
I predict the price of ground beef drops in Canada. Who do they export to?

the hope I heard on Public Radio is that some farmer made a mistake or cheated, and fed the wrong feed.

the fear is that this was caught from a moose or deer. Then the US market is screwed too.

There has been a rumor for years in the MidWEst where I used to live that people were getting ill from eating deer with mad cow like illness.
