A global ban on tobacco was stopped partly by the U.S. Thank goodness. People just don't get it. We now only have two drugs that are easily accessible and make us feel significantly good that are legal. They are tobacco and alcohol. Isn't it bad enough that marijuana isn't legal. Now people want to ban tobacco too!! Come on now!!

Can you read? The ban was not to be against smoking itself, but against third party smoke, (Thank Ed for that), and advertising. No one is going to ban smoking in itself, that would be as pointless as the war on drugs. But promotion of smoking is just as crazy as promoting heroin.

My mistake. That's what happens when I try to be intelligent like everyone else and post a link to a news article and then comment on it.

It seems like everytime I read something about politics, I misunderstand it. One time I misunderstood this Stalin quote where he said something like, "The Finns can be resettled." For some reason when I read the word "Finns", I thought I read "Finland" and misinterpreted it to mean that Stalin wanted to exterminate the Finns and resettle Finland. I'd make a horrible historian.

Even worse, the link goes to the Los Angeles Times register or login page, so most people can't read the article.
