He's been a murmur on the forum for a few months now.

Jeez...everybody knows that Homer's brother Herb already invented a Baby Translator (http://duffgardens.net/images.php?pic=Framegrabs/Dimes/PDVD_562.jpg).

See, I was imagining a baby that could read minds...
But we've already covered Indigo Children, too.

Bummer. I thought this thread was about a baby that reads minds.

He's also being covered quite heavily at the UK Skeptics forum (http://www.skeptics.org.uk/forum/index.php).
You might be interested to know that our very own VBloke went on GMTV with Derek as a 'professional skeptic'. There's a link to the video clip on the UKS forum somewhere.

And I'll be getting in contact with him soon to arrange a protocol for the JREF challenge...

Now that I have read the other comments I wish this *was* about a baby that could read minds.
Baby's minds are easy to read.

So no-one following this up then on a weekly basis.Watched it again last night.
What a creepy sleazy man.Using very strong language in front of baby, not just that but shouting also! Of course it was what the baby had heard,so he was just repeating.
Oddly the programme started out at a neutral place so he couldn't get any info about woman and child. But they then switched to her house anyway,so what the point of that was I dunno.
Sooner he takes the protocol test and f***s off when he fails, the better.

To be honest, I found the trailer for the show so ridiculous, and was laughing so hard that I missed when the programme itself was going to be on. I honestly cannot believe that people are actually seeking this guy's services. How on earth have people throughout all of history managed to raise their children without his help eh?!

I'm doing it here: http://www.ukskeptics.com/commentary_display.php?d=The_baby_mind_reader
There's more important things we're doing at the moment so this week's transcript will go up when I can type it up.
I've got a copy of next week's programme too - just wait 'til you see that one. It's bloody awful.

LOL.
This weeks was bad enough! I was quite outraged at his behaviour as well as his rubbish cold reading.Bursting into tears?! What was all that about?

His crying was absolutely hilarious.:D
I wonder if Jon Donnis is going to put some clips up on Bad Psychics!
The girl looked completely taken aback by Derek.

I was impressed he mentioned some recent tree cutting in the garden though.....
On second thoughts, maybe he looked out the window and saw the freshly cut tree just outside the window?

Ona serious note ,the talk of handcuffs and police was a strange cold reading gambit. But then it was edited so its hard to know exactly what was said.
BadPsychics still going?! Nobuyers for it yet then? :D

The production team, film crew, sound engineers, assistants, researchers, etc. had been to the house many times before the initial interview with Derek was recorded. ;)
Not that I'm suggesting there was a non-psychic way that Derek could have got this information. Do you understand this please? :D

Considering all of the background research that goes on in these productions, again I'd be amazed if the girl's boyfriend's arrest by the police and his violent behaviour towards her was not common knowledge before the filming took place.
I'm sure that Derek does a lot of cold reading in these meetings but the content that makes broadcast is suspiciously similar to the information we (as viewers) are given in advance. Of course there's the editing to take into consideration, but even when we see Derek struggling to get any sort of hit, as was the case in Monday night's broadcast, he still has an uncanny knack of honing in on the information that matters.
BadPsychics still going?
It is.
I won't deny being a critic of BP in the past, but credit where it's due. Jon has relaunched it and is doing a good job. The site has more of a tabloid style than most skeptics' sites, but it is popular, gets the message over to many people that other skeptics' sites miss, and its importance shouldn't be underestimated.

I saw an interview with Ogilvie on This Morning a few weeks ago. He began by saying how his technique is different to that of Supernanny Jo Frost. I can't remember his exact words, but he was insinuating that his psychic mind-reading techniques are a much better means of dealing with problematic children than actual discipline and good parenting.
They showed a clip of him at a young mother's house. I think This Morning had arranged the meeting to test his 'abilities' for themselves, and it had apparently not been very successful, because even with heavy editting the best they came out with was Ogilvie making a few vague statements and the mother looking slightly confused. She looked like she was afraid to contradict him in front of the cameras, although it was clear from her expression that some of his statements were incorrect.

Pythra,
He appeared on GMTV and the skeptic on the show was UK-Skeptic 'Mark' - aka vbloke on this forum.
Again, what was broadcast was somewhat different from the reality. The story is here: http://www.ukskeptics.com/article.php?dir=articles&article=Derek_Ogilvie_on_GMTV.php
Note particularly Derek's denial that he had never been to Tamra's house before the reading - (I have a saved admission by Tamra where she confirms that Derek had visited her home on the Sunday prior to the GMTV recording).
