I've notice how many videos you've been posting lately. I just wanted to thank you.
So... uh...

We all do what we can. I think these videos might even help.

I was extremely disappointed in this one. The small portion about the Alpha Kids was fine, but most of the rest of it was weak at best.
For example, it left the impression that Randi agreed that the fire-walking was done via mystical means.
Thanks for putting it up, though!

Yes, but I think that shows that he was investigating and does not always know the answers at first examination. Science in action.

the firewalking bit baffled me too, they walked about 5 feet and i even knew as a child that if i ran my hand thru a fire at a moderate speed that i would be fine. if you walked on coals for a while, i would think you could easily build up a callus that would protect you for serveral steps. heck when i was a kid in the summer in georgia i would be able to walk barefoot on the blacktop roads about 10 times as far as my feet would allow me now...i have a friend who is a guitarist and when we go camping he moves coals around in the fire because his calluses are thick enough.
not saying anything against randi, just wondering if they caught him just being polite to the people and edited out his more critical remarks...

There's and article in Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire-walking) about this. Google also for `Leidenfrost effect'.

I thought the Leidenfrost effect explanation had been more or less completely rejected. However, it does effectively explain how you can dip wet fingers into boiling lead (which is a much funkier trick, in my book).

Yes, I think it has been rejected as the major cause but, anyway, it is interesting to know about it. The Wikipedia article mentions several explanations.
