Cruisers - itinerary details for arrivals / departures.

OK - just to try and help co-ordinate potential ride / cab sharing as well as co-ordinating pre-cruise and post-cruise activities, I thought I'd start a thread where people can state when they're arriving/leaving. Also appropriate here would be other travel logistics questions / issues.

So - to kick it off... my itinerary:

Looking to share an airport cab / transfer at about noon on the 25th and I'm staying at the hotel recommended by Jeff (that Comfort Inn thingy.)

Also - I've never flown through JFK, and haven't visited NY since I was a kid. Any recommendations on airport hotels at JFK and what to (try to) see when you have one half-day in NY?

I don't have the info on our arrival and hotel, that's Steve's area of expertise and he's already asleep. I'll get the info from him and post it though. We are planning to fly in on Saturday and will most likely get a rental car. I think we're staying at the Jeff-recommended hotel also.

I'll be visting relatives near Orlando, so I'll be driving to Ft. L. Sunday the 27th, staying at the Holiday Inn Express Convention Center, then flying home out of FLL at 3:15 on the 2nd. I'll have a rental car until the 28th. I can drive people to the Bon Voyage party at the JREF from that hotel.

Arriving 27 August at 1:36PM on US Airways Flt 881 from Charlotte, NC

Staying at the Comfort Suites that night and will make use of the shuttle service to the Hotel and to the Port, so no car.

Deaprting Fort Lauderdale at 11:10 am on 2 September on US Airways Flight 1020, so if anybody else is catching a flight about that time I would be willing to split taxi fare.

FYI: In response to the TSA insanity, many airlines are allowing free changes to tickets for travel in the next few weeks. You may want to see if you can fine-tune your reservations if you were unhappy with what time you were arriving, etc.

So you know.. you guys have mentioned two different Holiday Inn Express hotels and two different Comfort Inn hotels.

The ones near the Cruise Port and JREF are:

Holiday Inn Convention Center (17th st. Causeway)

Comfort Suites Cruise Port (1800 Federal Hwy)

The others mentioned are closer to the airport, but ALL are fine... I just didn't want people to get confused about who they were sharing a hotel with.

Last night, I walked to the Comfort Suites Cruise Port in about 20 minutes. The Holiday Inn Express is another 10 minutes from there.
