I recently got into a discussion (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=57522) about the old, defunct, never-fully-implemented UNR 194, specifically clause 11 (http://www.mideastweb.org/194.htm) referring to the return of palestinian refugees to their homes.
Also, I just noticed a few remarks by geni in this thread (http://forums.randi.org/showpost.php?p=1752148&postcount=117) which talked about the demands of the palestinians embodied in their current National Conciliation Referendum (Hadarim Prisoner's Document) :

(link to the document itself)
geni says: Because (gaza) isn't where (they) used to live. Remember the Israelis seem to think they had a right of return after rather a lot of centuries. 60 years (for the palestinians to remain refugees) is nothing.

My question for this thread ---- What is special about the jewish right of return (codified in law, Sefer Ha-Chukkim No. 51 of the 21st Tammuz, 5710 (http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Immigration/Text_of_Law_of_Return.html) ) and why do these jewish desires to live in Israel/Palestine trump the arab-palestinian's wishes for the same thing?

Let's leave aside the modern wars, the ongoing violence, the Charters and Covenants and Declarations, and just focus on the underlying principle:
What is the difference between a 5800-year-old claim and a 125-year-old claim?

None both are spurious, there has never been just one group living in that area, sveral peoples have and so several peoples could make the same argument.

My personal feeling about Israeal is I want it to succeed and prosper, it is the only open genuolinley democratic state in the Middle East, and if a just peace is made with the Pals and they are allowed a viable state then Israel in the long run will be stronger, becasue of having a festering sore draining its resources it cold have a trading partner and in time , a long time admittedly an ally.

None. Both are spurious

Well, that certainly puts an end to this thread quickly.
