English to Arabic Translation Requested.

Hey all:

I've got a friend who's working on a sci-fi role-playing game setting and he needs some help finding an arabic translation for the following English phrase: "Demon Children"

Being a Batman fan, I know that "Al Ghul" means "demon" but I didn't want to presume anything further than that. Can anyone help?

I don't know but if you feel like having a chuckle tell him it's "Ar'nab Al-Ghul" (which I think is demon bunny) :)

That depends on whether you mean (a) the children of a demon; (b) the grown children of a demon (c) people below voting age who have demonic attributes; (d) just some secret society who call themselves "The Sons of the Ghoul" 'cos they think it makes them sound scary.

Oh, and you'll have to specify their gender.

I guess I would mean "demons who look like children," non gender specific.

Now there's a shade of meaning I hadn't caught.

Something like ibnaa'i-l-`afriit, perhaps.

I suggest `afriit in particular because it's already an English word.

Um ...

Stress on "aa" and "ii".

"ii" is like like the sound in French "pique".

"aa" is a short "a" made long, not "ah".

' is the sound an Englishman makes when he drops a t.

You cannot pronounce ` and if you try you will dislocate your throat.

oh PM Kitten! She just graduated with her darn Arabic degree, and she also learned a lot of the more subtle meanings. A literal translation may not give you the full meaning. She might as well do something with that darn degree!
