Why are they come to this board, and what is their goal?
For the longest time, we only had billiefan2000, our Christian propaganda administrator. ("Administrator" meaning "he who administers the propaganda to the board") billiefan2000 would post only a link to an article, or maybe a link and a short synopsis of an article and then disappear for a day or two at a time before responding, if at all to the comments his article generated. When he responded, if at all, it usually wasn't very insightful, or even pertenent, to the topic at hand.
Lately, we've had the addition of Jal, our new Muslim propaganda administrator. Who, while a tad more descriptive about his/her position on the topic presented, still rarely defends the position.
My question is, as mentioned above, why? Wouldn't you expect a skeptics' board to ask tough questions and pick such propaganda apart?
(I must be in a new thread startin' mood)

...because they;
1. Can't understand why everyone doesn't believe as they do.
2. Think that by posting enough screed to "make us all think" we will come around.
3. Lack the mental acuity to defend their positions. So they respond w/ the odd non-sequitur - if they respond at all.
I must admit I do find the Hal Lindsay cartoons entertaining - although not in the way they were intended.

Barkhorn.

Maybe Jal doesn't defend his beliefs because we talk him out of them.
(It was just a thought)
I can see why he dropped the Jesus thread. Atheists don't think much of the Bible. (Though I don't know why the Christians on this board all bu ignored it)
Maybe this "science in the Quran" thread will get an argument out of him.
(Come on Jal, don't let Yahzi be ri.. ri.. I STILL CAN'T SAY IT!!!)

Posting fulfills their missionary requirement. It is not necessary that they defend it, merely that they present it. If you then do not accept it, God is justified in sending you to hell. The crime you have committed, of course, is not recognizing the brilliance and sterling character of God's True Messenger. For the arrogance of expecting a defense or even a rational coherent statement, you will be sent to the lowest pit of Hell.
After all, if God wanted you to use your brain, he would have given you one. Wait... (see - there you go again with the questions!)

I'd have to go with #1.

What about those who take what you say, copy it and then respond to virtually every sentence? Closely scrutinizing it for any hint of an error. Even then they often totally miss the point. Forget about getting a simple question answered. I think many are unable to think in a non-supernatural paradigm. Or paragraphs.
Then there are trolls. Sometimes it's hard not to bite. :D

I'm sure you know the answer. Their religion REQUIRES them to spread the good word. They HAVE to evangelize or they aren't squat. Same with the goofy muslims.
Just maybe a couple of them are teetering on the brink of reality and want to test the waters....who knows.
