Actually I don't think chimps are cute. They are annoying.

do you see any relevance there?

What is it that leads you to make that statement? How do you arrive at using "You ok Riddick?" Could I not say "You seem a bit...off." in the same fashion?

I think that Riddick is saying something about atheists and evolution (hence the ape), although I can't quite figure it out. I will assume that due to the crypticness of it, it is meant to be derisive and mayhaps trollish?

More importantly, I looked up what a pluot was (thank you Lisa Simpson) and I found this:
"A pluot (plü-ot) is a fruit developed in the late 20th century by Floyd Zaiger. It is a complex cross hybrid of plum and apricot, being 2/3 plum and 1/3 apricot in parentage. Its exterior resembles a plum fairly closely. "

How does 1/3, 2/3 parrentage come about? Wouldn't it have to be 1/2, 1/2? Im not a biologist, so somebody fill me in here.

It's just Riddick. Ignore it and it goes away. But then it comes back. It's like a rash.

Chimps are very soulful. I like the way they enjoy eating human babies when they can get them.

It all works out then, because I like eating baby chimps. BBQ'd with a nice Carolina vinegar sauce. Mmm...now that's good eatin'!

Did I spell something wrong? If so...whoops. To be fair, I shouldn't have brought it up. I only did so because of your attitude.

b) darwin's theory involves monkey's/apes. hence my OP. i apologize if this was a difficult combination for you to assemble.

Evolution isn't atheistic therefore chimps have no bearing on atheism.

Actually, I only recall your posts vaugely. From now on, I promise to spaz out accordingly.

TAM911?

Oh man, hilarious, I just can't stop laughing.

That's just as funny as Vin Diesel in those space movies. He's got a real gift for comedy as well.

Riddick is just feeling left out because he's not hip to current culture, being in Nebraska and all.

Riddick:
Robots are cool. Monkeys are cool. Robot monkeys are therefore exponentially cool. Put a pirate hat and an eyepatch on that thing and it would be so cool as to obviate air-conditioning.

BTW, Riddick, this is my teddy (http://www.shoggoth.net/article.php3?story_id=230&slashSess=2705afbce86ff8d00e2b955faf7b45cc). Along with a stuffie bookworm (http://www.giantmicrobes.com/critters/bookworm.html).

That's one creepy looking chimp doll. Once you enter the Uncanny Valley, things stop being cute.

b) darwin's theory involves monkey's/apes.Are you implying that Creationism doesn't involve monkeys or apes inn any way?

Don't assume someone's not cool just because they're living in Nebraska, assume they're not cool because of who they are.

I think the point is that for God-fearing pluots, chimpanzees don't even exist. Only atheists believe in chimpanzees, and would therefore be interested in owning that frankly disturbing bust of one.

Btw, pluots are really good. I eat them regularly in season, despite the cost. Since Darwinism is about pluots, only atheists need apply. Riddick wouldn't be any more likely to see them in the grocery produce section than a native Carribbean islander, circa 1492, would be able to see the Santa Maria. :p

I have the same Bender too. But mine's foghat grey. He came with a cigar and a bottle of Olde Fortran. He was a birthday present from my sister-in-law so alas I too can't testify as to it's origins.

Riddick, the issue is that evolution isn't "an atheist theory", though it certainly offers them some more explanations of the world around them than they had before it :D. Many many religious fellows have no issue following the evidence at least in that regard. Evolution is no more atheist exclusive than believing the Earth is round or that the Earth orbits the sun. Anyone can still come up with whatever alterations their religion requires to still be religious while thinking those things to be true.

You might as well have offered some sort of talking globe and called that a gift for atheists.

But then again, as I was a Christian myself I am fully aware that "people who are christians and think evolution is true are wrong and don't understand that their faith can't support that contradiction". Actually, that's sort of true. Look at what happened to me! :D Doesn't mean you aren't making similar compromises all the time and that maintaining a belief in both the bible and evolution is as valid as your belief that the world does not in fact have four corners (in fact it doesn't even have one). If that's figurative, than the other christians can say creation is figurative.

But myself I prefer the I Dream of Genie verson of creation.

Some theists have a preference of "what's darwin's thing".

If there is some relevance why dont you just say what the relevance is?

An argument I've heard is "Atheists just came up with evolution so they could hide from god and say "we are smarter and have it all figured out"".

Yes, I'm fully aware of how horribly flawed that argument is (the sheer number of blind presumptions is staggering), but it is an argument I had been presented with time and time again growing up.

To the credit of the creationists, most have no idea what evolution is. They usually have some wild misconception, like that evolution states that monkeys can give birth to humans, or a misunderstanding of how science works, like the belief that because scientists are constantly refining evolution that it is "full of holes."

It's kind of the tragedy of all education that it can never reach those who don't want to learn. Look at the fascinating and informative Darwin exhibit that was presented in the Museum of Natural History in NYC. As well as it presented Darwin's theories and recent advances in evolution, it could never teach anyone who didn't want to buy a ticket.
