View Full Version : homosexuality ( moral v/s political agendas)

this is quite a good article if you're interested.

That is my personal view, but it is irrelevant to the issue at hand. Even if Knight were correct in thinking that homosexuality is a moral choice, and that Christians and Jews have a moral obligation to oppose it, this would not alter the fact that it is inappropriate and self-defeating for philosophical conservatives to make this their political agenda. A mission to rescue homosexuals is a religious mission; it is not an appropriate political cause. Would Robert Knight like the government to investigate every American to determine whether they are homosexual or not and then compel those who are to undergo conversion therapy -- or else? This is a prescription for a totalitarian state. No conservative should want any part of it. But this is how Robert Knight sums up the political agenda of social conservatives. Those who agree with him should think again.

OOOG, conversion therapy, not well documented to be any sucsess.

very cogent point, why should sex between consenting adults be a political issue?

Straight but not close minded.

I am not a fan of Horowitz, though he does usually have a much more even view of things.

Sex between consenting adults is a political (with a small p) issue in many ways; the article demonstrates one of 'em, however it's an issue that the big P's need to very careful about.

Straight but kind of wonky.

Well, it's nice to see that the fundomorons who wish to force their faith down everyone's throat at the gunpoint of law, do have opposition within conservative ranks...

The only thing I do straight, is thinking.

I understand the US meaning of the word, however in the UK faggots is also the name for a regional dish made of seasoned (sheep?) brains in gravy... gives a bit of a spin to the idea of "fruity faggoty drinks"! :D

Edited to add
Which reminds me in a round about way, how drinks companies are promoting "fruity faggoty drinks" like alcopops to young straight men, with adverts showing young straight men having a good time doing young, but rigidly heterosexual activities. Time to change the punchline of "What's the difference between a straight bloke and a gay bloke?" to "About 10 bottles of Smirnoff Ice!"
