"THE US has floated plans to turn Guantanamo Bay into a death camp, with its own death row and execution chamber.

Prisoners would be tried, convicted and executed without leaving its boundaries, without a jury and without right of appeal, The Mail on Sunday newspaper reported yesterday. "


I realy hope that this is NOT true.

They all seem to source their stories to "The Mail on Sunday", which does not appear to have a website!

Strangely for a newspaper website it seems devoid of news. But I suppose having had the misfortune of reading the said rag that seems strangely appropriate.

Yes, I found that site, and yes, it was the actual absence of news on it I was referring to, sorry. It looks like the news is print only. It seems strange that a site that looks like such a rag would carry a story like that. Did someone sneak it through, or was it just a stuff up?

Well I doubt that the story quoted in the origional post of this thread was ever confirmed/corraborated and there is no evidence that the US plans to take these directions with the international detention center.


Still,
alleged terrorists are still being held there.


Are these suspects denied legal council? Have they charged any of these alleged terrorists or illegal combatants? Can all these people be held indefinately? Some of these suspects have been held for 26 or 27 months or more now. How will this resolve?

Is it practical for the U.S. to hold so many suspects without charging them indefinately?
