Apparently train spotters in the UK are now being moved on in case they are plotting terrorist attacks:

What other activities have been / should be banned on spurious "safety" grounds?

How about 'waiting on a platform'

Just innocent passengers eh? what if youre plotting a terroist act!!

Looks like that's banned according to the BBC:

"But a meeting of US security officials in Washington in March reportedly classified "people sitting on train platforms who appear to be monitoring the timing of arrivals and departures" as suspicious behaviour. "

Although the bit I liked best was the suggestion that trainspotters got "closer to the trains" than other people. Assuming that the other people are commuters getting on/off the train, how do you get closer? Unless they meant on an emotional level....

Thinking. Independent thought could lead to terrorism.

All patriotic world citizens should sit in front of their televisions during non-work hours and demonstrate their patriotism by investing all cognitive skill into memorizing sports trivia.

At last we know the real reason why the trains haven't run in any way that remotely resembles the published time tables all these years - a pre-emptive anti-terrorist measure.
