Right now I put diatoms (at least, their shells) to a very useful purpose -- in my pool filter.

Hehe.
I freaked a Postgrad out once, by telling him I had a couple of Billion dead sea creatures, in a bucket, in my store for him.
It was only when he came down to personally examin the creatures, that he realized I was talking about the 1kg bucket of diatomaceous earth, he had ordered.:D
