Has anyone thought of using this forum itself to conduct a challenge (of sorts)? Admittedly, this idea is very loose and not well fleshed out at the moment. However, I thought I'd try to post it anyway and see where things go.
My idea is that we setup a special forum on this web-site that I'll call "Predictions". This forum would be for anyone to put up their best and most accurate predictions of the future. Note that I am not saying that these predictions must be of a psychic nature. There are many intelligent, well-informed readers on this forum, so why not also allow predictions that are based upon hunches derived from understanding of what is happening in the world. Initially, these predictions can be evaluated by the forum members for their specificity in what they say and, thus, rated against a scale of vagueness. Over time, the predictions could be revisited to determine how well they've done against real world happenings.
Obviously, this is not good enough for winning the $1M prize, but it might be a start at the preliminary test for the prize. What might be more interesting, though, is to gather statistics on how well the predictions do and whether the psychic or non-psychic predictions turn out to be more accurate.
Does this sound like an idea?
