Several weeks ago, military action in the region caused storage tanks near Beirut to be damaged, that has lead to a major oil spill in the eastern Mediterranean.

Here's an NPR story on the subject, in case you've been tuning out the conflict.

I'm a senior in Environmental Studies. Even if it just involved brute work, I want to see if any of the Non-Governmental Organizations involved in the clean up want to hire me, or accept me as a volunteer to assist. I doubt they're going to have a surplus of volunteers willing to go to Lebanon, and I think an oil spill of this magnitude needs to be addressed. I just have no idea who to contact to ask about joining the clean up effort. Can anyone help me out on this?

Perhaps this belongs in the politics grouping? Here is some remote sensing data for the effected areas. http://www.zki.dlr.de/applications/2006/lebanon/lebanon_2006_en.html
