The amount of interest last year in my (poorly recorded) recordings (before I was instructed to take them down) was very, very high. Tons and tons of people who hadn't previously heard of JREF or TAM downloaded them, and are now aware of the work that the JREF is doing. Even though the actual audio has been removed since I was asked to remove it, I still get lots and lots of hits to the pages from people interested in hearing it. Specifically Hitchens' talk. I swear, Hitchens has a posse...

Is there any hope of seeing an "official" podcast this year, of at least some of the talks so that those people who are unable to attend (or just didn't know about it until it was taking place) could experience some of it without the 6-month delay and gigantic price tag for the dvd sets? If it was just a selection of talks, or even cut down versions of them, it could help spark interest in the dvd or audio sets when they do come out. If all the talks were podcasted, they'd already be effectively ready to turn into mp3 cds which could then be sold.

It seems to me that the amount of exposure and "getting-it-out-there"ness that would be achieved would far outweigh the costs and effort involved. In fact, there were no costs when I did it last year, just lots and lots of effort. Then some more effort.

With access to the soundboard for recording, there's no reason at all that at least a handful of the talks couldn't be recorded and posted in podcast form in near-realtime (ie. at the end of the day) where thousands and thousands could experience the message the speaker wanted people to hear.

If there's any interest at all in doing this, I'd be happy to help out with the work.
