I heard a radio advertisement for this product. It's supposedly intended to treat pink eye. Of course it does nothing.
The problem here is that conjunctivitis(pinkeye) can be caused by a plethora of different bugs ranging from relatively harmless ones all the way up to chlamydia and worse.
The other problem is that eye infections (even ones with mild beginnings) can cause loss of eyesight. And these jokers are telling us to treat this condition with distilled water.
This stuff is available in drug stores and grocery stores in my area (Chicago) and probably yours, too.

My memory of pink eye in college is that the whole thing was so red and swolen I couldn't even get my eye open. I assume no one would put up with more than a day of that before, as I did, running into the health clinic and screaming, "Help! I'm blind!" and then tripping over a chair and falling unconscious to the floor.
Yeah, college was cool.

I heard this commercial yesterday from the same company, only it was for cataracts. It surprised me so much, I did a quick Google and found this FDA warning letter (http://www.fda.gov/foi/warning_letters/g5463d.pdf) from August ’05. (Hard to read html version (http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:8LxfbZy8DaQJ:www.fda.gov/foi/warning_letters/g5463d.pdf+similasan&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=7).)
Among other incredible warnings, like...
Quality assurance approved and released "Ear Wax Relief" labels misprinted with the words "Eye Drops." Although the investigator confirmed that these labels were not yet used on marketed product, we are concerned that misprinted labels may have been used on marketed product in the past.
is this...
Because Similasan Pink Eye Relief eye drops are intended to relieve minor symptoms associated with viral and environmental conjunctivitis and Similasan Cataract Care eye drops are intended to relieve symptoms associated with diagnosed cataracts and aging eyes, they are articles intended for use in the mitigation and treatment of disease in man. Therefore, both of these products are drugs within the meaning of Section 201(g) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) [21 U.S .C. § 321(g)]. Similasan Pink Eye Relief eye drops and Similasan Cataract Care eye drops are misbranded within the meaning of Section 503(b)(1) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 353(b)(1)] in that they are not dispensed pursuant to the prescription of a practitioner licensed by law to administer such drug. The conditions for which they are offered are not amenable to self-diagnosis and treatment by individuals who are not medical practitioners....
How could they possibly be selling this stuff?

I don't know how they sell this carp but apparently drug stores see no problem with stocking it. I just remember in the spring when my allergies were very bad and my eyes itched terribly, walking into a drug store looking for allergy eye drops, and even with my eyes driving me crazy I would NOT pick up that carp. It was practically the only eye drops left on the shelf labelled allergy eye drops, all the others were just about gone while lots of the Silimicarp was still there (of all varieties). I picked up the last of the REAL eye drops for allergies.
Hopefully the woefully bad sales of this stuff will mean that drug store will think twice about ordering any more of it.

That's good because carp is much more irritating to the human body. You obviously want mud shark. (http://www.snopes.com/music/artists/mudshark.asp) (or red snapper, as the case may be.)
