Interesting (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,208683,00.html). I don't know what to think.

It's a wolf-dog hybrid. Not exactly unheard of. Some people even try to breed for them on purpose. So where is the mystery?

With respect, why not? The article makes clear that it was a wolf-dog hybrid, and it doesn't exactly look like Gozor's favourite pet..

[ETA] - dammit, people are just too quick on the draw around here!

Wow, that showcases my powers of observation - I only read half the article and thought I'd read the whole beastly thing.

Yeah, news articles can be tricky things to read. It was this line, though, (Story continues below) that saved me.:D

It's not my fault... I'm blond, you see... yet, I can read and write. This is because of an amazing system known as broil.

I interpreted the wolf-dog hybrid ID to reference the animal killed a couple of years back and not this one.

Does not look much like any wolf-dog hybrid I've ever seen, although I would bet that the animal's skull has been disfigured by the car accident.

Whatever it was (malformed dog, w-d hybrid) it sure was not pretty...

I went back to re-read it, and you are right in that it is ambiguous. I am not sure which animal they meant.

Even so, this animal does not look that mysterious to me. Wolf/dog hybrid or Coy/dog, and pretty freaking ugly, but not supernatural. There are breeds of dog that have very short snouts, so it does not seem out of the realm of the normal for this animal to look like this.

Wildlife officials and animal control officers declined to go to Turner to examine the remains. WTF:confused: At the wildlife office- Official 1: "Yeah hey Bob, we gotta couple calls from down there in Turner saying they got some evil looking mutant thing hit by a car. You wanna go check it out?" Official 2: *sighs* Steve, Steve, Steve... Did you see a 'Department of Evil Looking Mutant Things' sign on your way in this morning? Pfft, rookie."

It's eyes look large and bulging out like human eyes do. It's head is also round opposed to shaped like canine heads are shaped.

Could this be a result of the car hitting it making it's head deformed or could of been born that way?

Maybe a deformed bulldog and a wolf?

I'm calling Chupacabra.

(eta) Just read the part where they said it was 40-50 lbs. so I'm calling midget Chupacabra.

(eta) Just read the part about the wolf-dog DNA thing so I'm calling wolf-dog, shape shifting, midget Chupacabra.

Those are traits bred for in some breeds of dogs. I have no idea why but they are.

"It was evil, evil looking. And it had a horrible stench I will never forget,"

Hubby said, "the animal looked "half-rodent, half-dog"..."It looked like "something out of a Stephen King story."

That is also the trait of some dogs who have suffered severe head trauma.
