No, not like that. Sheesh.

I don't believe in psychics. That's probably been in question lately, but I dont. But there was one experience I had I want to share.

This woman was a friend of my grandmother's. I was vaguely aware of her being around sometimes when my brother and I used to go to gran's house to spend time with our cousins. I was young, I didn't pay much attention to her- instead we would watch "Planet of the Apes" and "Godzilla" movies while the two old ladies would sit in the kitchen and do whatever old ladies do. One year, very early on, she gave me a ceramic turtle for my birthday. I think I was about six.

Anyway, I got older, and we stopped going over to grandma's house so much. Eventually, Grandma died. At the funeral, this woman came up to me and introduced herself, I barely remembered her, but it was important to her that I seemed to, so I played along. After the ceremony- which was the last funeral I've attended, coincidentally, I asked my mom who she was, and it turns out she was my grandmother's "psychic" - they didn't call themselves that back then. She would read cards for her while we played. She was from Europe somewhere and it was a family tradition. I don't know how deeply invested grandma was in this, she never mentioned her friend as part of her decision making process. I think it was just something to pass the time.

I was just starting college at this time- and Intro to Philosophy- so I started looking into Tarot. Finding out how vastly divergent different people's interpretation of the cards were, and how, if I did a layout for the same person (usually myself) twenty minutes later would drastically change my future, is one of the things that led me to start thinking critically.

There's no point to this story, recent events just brought this to mind.

I still have the turtle.
