Now, that is what I would call a war on drugs!

...and no. No, it is definitely not worthy of the death penalty.

It depends, were they cotton, silk, or lace?

In Saudi Arabia, drug-smuggling will get you a haircut...

Damn. Are they winning the "war" on drugs? I would think that that might be a deterrent.

Unfortunately, it is like your story, the "mules", often from Africa, are the ones caught and beheaded and those that finance/buy the drugs probably get off.

And yes, while I was living in the UAE, the newspapers would occasionally report beheadings in Saudi, normally for murder, rape or drugs (but not in UAE, as far as I know). I don't believe it is a public spectacle as it was a couple decades ago, but on the other hand, the appeals process is not quite as long there as in the US.

But drugs will go to meet the demand and the Drug Barons will use as many disposable Serfs as needed.

IMHO as always.

Standard penalty throughout Asia - executions of drug traffickers are common and there are lots of Aussies and one Kiwi awaiting the bullet in jails throughout SE Asia right now.

The penalty is well known, whether it's appropriate is in question, but the old story prevails - you know the punishment, avoid it by not doing the crime.......

The trouble is that some mules are clearly blackmailed into it by threats against family and friends.

Notable that Western governments don't seem to be applying much pressure to change things.
