Calling all Government Shills

A government shill is someone who is secretly affiliated with the government but pretends to be completely independent while supporting them in order to encourage others to the same. I was just wondering how many people here who have been accused of being government shills actually work for the govenment or in the public sector and therefore can't be shills by definition?

The CT'ers are so enamored of their theory (whatever flavor they believe in) that no one could possibly disagree with them, thus anyone who does must be a paid agent of the gov't/new world order/Zionists/illuminati/freemasons/skull-and-bones etc.

Hannity and Limbaugh are shills for a particular political bloc, some of whom are now in government.

Michael Moore is a shill for a different bloc.

And so on.

Is that where you are going with this post? To out all of the shills?

You know what? Because I didn't feel smart enough to answer your question off-hand, and I thought it was an interesting one, I Googled "government shill". One of the hits was this, a forum discussing how this forum had been hacked back in July.

We've all been accused of being shills numerous times.

Even most of the CTers have been accused by other CTers of being shills (thermite vs. micro-nukers, 100% no-planers vs. 25%/50% no-planers etc.) .

I know most people have been accused of being shills. My point was that if you freely admit to working for the government you can't be a shill, since that implies you are trying to keep it secret. I was just wondering if anyone here actually works for the government and so clearly cannot be a shill.

For instance, I work in a (British) government lab and so any accusation that I pretend not to be with the government in order to persuade people about anything is clearly nonsense.

Edit : I was just wondering this because all the CTers accuse people of being shills without ever bothering to ask if they really are government agents. It just seems a little silly to accuse someone of pretending not to be with the government without actually checking if they are openly with the government to start with. Not that I expect CTers to ever be sensible.

I work for the government part-time as a U.S. Army Reservist.

In my civillian job I'm associated with the government. I handle secure file transfers and Internet security for a major insurance company, adn this company also handles the administration of the Medicare program in the state.

Anyway, back to the OP, I do work for the UK government, but I shill in my spare time ;)
(of course technically I work for the Crown, as part of the Machinery of Government, I am not allowed to use my professional position to push any political ideology, or support any one political party over another).

Yep, I've been called a shill (I had no idea what they meant at the time) by one CTist and been told I must be getting paid to say what I have said by another - they must have spies onto me (;)) - though I've never mentioned it, I work for a state government, in the field of justice, and my father was a mason. I'm sure that's shilly enough for the CTists. Don't tell any of them, or I'll have to kill them!!!! :D
