View Full Version : Stopping Terrorism

Hello Everyone, this is my first post to the JREF forums, and so I have decided that my debut should be about a very important subject. So here I go :-)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I know that I am going to anger quite a few people when I say this, but I think we should stop going after terrorists, and instead, at least, try to talk with them. What happened at 9/11 was terrible, and I hope nothing like that ever happens again, but I personally think that by going after terrorists, we are only asking for another terrible attack. At the end of the day, you cannot stop terrorists. You can knock out regimes that openly support terrorism, but it would be impossible to totally stop any kind of attack.

I believe that supporters of groups like al-qaida, honestly believe that they are fighting the 'holy war' against evil and sin, and in their eyes, where better to start than America?

Anyway, I believe that the only way to fight terrorism is to talk to groups like al-qaida. I'm sure that by now, you are very angry at me for even suggesting talking to these people, but please carry on reading, and I hope you will see what I mean.

Here's what I propose:

A legally-binding document is drawn up, basically saying that if ANYONE can provide undeniable* evidence of the Islamic God existing, and being the only God, than the countries that have signed up will become Islamic Countries, and any building or place that is considered sinful in the Islamic Religion will be shut down permanently.

In return, groups such as al-qaida will halt all current operations, until acceptable proof* of the Islamic God being the one and only God have been confirmed.

This document MUST be signed by ALL the following people for it to work effectively:

The President of America
The Prime Minister of Israel
The Prime Minister of Britain

* What is considered undeniable evidence will have to be agreed upon by the signing countries, but my idea would be something like, if the Muslim "Extremists" can get their God to "write" the words "ISLAM IS THE ONLY RELIGION" on a heavily guarded American Air Force Base, than that could qualify as undeniable evidence.

Note: Reading the previous paragraph back to myself, it sounds like a stupid idea, but my thinking is that if these people believe in their God to the extent that they will kill thousands of innocent civilians for him, then it surely must be worth a try.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thankyou for reading my views on this very delicate subject, and I hope that I have not angered anyone with my views. I welcome any response, positive or negitive, either posted on the JREF forum or emailed to me at: perpetual_thinker@yahoo.co.uk

Some of these people start with America when they look for education and job opportunities.

As for evil and sin, I will go ahead and let he who is without it cast the first stone.

Not to play devil's advocate (well ok, perhaps a little hehe) but I think religion is just an excuse for them to hack away at each other. If it weren't in the name of Allah and God, it'd be for oil, or territory, or technology or ressources. People like to fight, and that's that. War is an extension of the human race, it's been with us since the beginning of recorded history. I don't believe in peace; I have never seen it.

In Britain at least, everytime an asylum seeker does something wrong, it is immediatly put on the front page, if however, an asylum seeker recieves 6 Nobel Awards (never happened yet I don't think), it gets put on page 8.

It's the same with peace and war. If two countries sign a peace deal, the story will end up on page 12, if a missile is launched, starting a war, it get's front page priority. You are right about one thing though, no-one is interested about peace
