In expectation of this date's greater amount of activity (at all three crash sites), I thought I'd start a thread for reporting and discussion of the same.

Let's hope that the Ctists will leave the families of the victims alone and let them mourn their loss with dignity.

Is it too much to ask f them? :(

First off, I understand President Bush is scheduled to visit each sight at some time during the day. I imagine protesters will be kept at a distance, which is only right. You have to wonder, however, how far in advance the Secret Service and other security teams will secure the area. No doubt lower Manhattan, for instance, will be an enormous amount of work. And when might demonstrators be allowed back?

Oh yes, quite.

But the freudian keyboard error is most appreciated.

"f them"...

Thanks, Regnad. I've been super-busy and have wanted to post some info about gathering at Ground Zero beginning at 8 am on 9/11, but haven't gotten to it. Anyone interested can PM me. My approach will be simply to stick with some of the CT leaders, hand out some literature, and talk to as many press people as the CTs do. I will not be arguing with CTs on that day or otherwise attracting more attention to them. Anyone who's willing to say a few words to the press would be most appreciated. (The press doesn't want detail, just sound bites, and we've got plenty of those.) We'll wear light-colored clothes to distinguish ourselves from the CTs, who will be wearing black shirts. I'll also have badges for people to wear with a phrase that identifies us as non-crackpots. More later. –Mark

I told my wife I'd give quite a bit to be there that day, but we just don't have the fundage.

I'll be rooting for you guys from afar. Hope you get some pub.

Here's an interesting site I happened upon: 5th Anniversary paraphernalia (http://www.nyfirestore.com/wtc-5th-anniversary.html).

Not sure how I feel about profiting from an event of this kind. Unless profits are folded back into the proper agencies, which would be fine.

ETA: Yikes! This (http://www.nationalcollectorsmint.com/product2.jsp?path=-1%7C1699&id=4689) goes a little far, I think.

Personally, I find it exploitative and tacky if it's done for profit. Almost (but not quite) as bad as this

ETA: Regnad edited his post to put in the same link as me, just as I posted, I think we may have a psychic bond. ;)

Here's (http://s15.invisionfree.com/Loose_Change_Forum/index.php?showtopic=12420) what the CT'ers will be wearing. I don't know if the bowl haircut is typical or not.

How many CTers will show up at Ground Zero? I'm hoping it's in the hundreds but that's probably wishful thinking.

The manager said he can't wear them, just his red vest and paper hat.

only $29.95
The World Trade Center skyline is lavishly clad in gleaming silver that was miraculously recovered from a bank vault found under tons of debris at Ground Zero. Now, to mark the fifth anniversary, the same silver that was reclaimed from the destruction has been used to cover the magnificent Twin Towers depicted in the 2001-2006 World Trade Center Commemorative. The stunning design of this magnificent September 11th memorial is a 15 mg. of 24 KT gold and 15 mg. of .999 pure silver clad tribute to all who were lost on that fateful day. $5 of every commemorative order is donated to official 9/11 family charities and memorials.F you

Edit: Actually, I emailed them and told them what I thought of their coin.

personally i think the coin looks nice, but the pop-up towers is very tacky, and more the $5 should go to charity if they are gonna charge $30 for the thing (they have about 40 cents worth of gold and silver in them)

This one doesn't offer any money to charity at all.
