View Full Version : 9/11 Drownings?

I recently read on the web somewhere that it is "common knowledge" that some people drowned underneath the WTC on 9/11/2001, due to flooding from burst water lines, etc. The bodies, it was said, had to be retrieved by divers.
Is anyone here familiar with this?
I have tried googling ("WTC" and "drowned"), but nothing I have found seems to relate to this at all.
This isn't CT-related (to my knowledge), but thought someone here might be able to point me to references, if indeed such drownings occured.
Thanks.

Is this line of research related to the Montel where Sylvia was insistant that the womans husband who died at WTC had drowned?

Hello RSLancastr,
this drowning story with broken pipes is new for me.
Itīs not the same that William Rodriguez talked
about, isīnt it? : "Water from the sprinklers flow
down the elevator-shafts...."

Cripes, Sylvia trying to claim a hit with that woman now?I don't know that she ever claimed it was anything else.

Do you have the link somewhere? Thanks for the Rodriguez quote. I don't think it's related, but might be.
The mention is within comments on a YouTube video of Sylvia Browne:
http://www.youtube.com/comment_servlet?all_comments&v=0dU0Q208HKI&fromurl=/watch%3Fv%3D0dU0Q208HKI
In the comments, user "ZCamil", trying to justify Sylvia's reading, says
"The entire area underneath both towers in the world trade center was completely immersed in water due to the burst pipes and sewer system being disrupted. If anyone remembers that day, the path trains and subways were stalled and the tunnels needed divers to go down there and retreive bodies and various other things... "And then says:
"Not to defend SB, but many firefighters were killed after the buildings came down. Going into the wreckage above and below ground posed serious danger, and it has been documented that people died from being drowned as well. It sounds like Sylvia is trying to say that he wasnt killed by the collapse but rather drowning...not sure if I believe this.. "An online acquaintance of mine says this is true. She says her cousin is a firefighter and told her the same thing. I have asked her for some references, but so far, have not received any from her.
So, I don't know if this is an urban legend of some kind, or if there is some basis to it. I just know that I heard nothing about it at the time, and have read nothing about it since.

The ONLY thing I personally recall from the 9/11 attacks that related to flooding were fears that the adjoining seawall might give way and flood a good portion of the downtown area.
