I ahve this mate who says that the earth is covered by an energy grid, and that defence and space installations are put where they are to take advantage of the nodes on this grid.
Which, of course, is why the US defense site at Woomera is located where it is.
I know it's pointless arguing, and it is not something I would do, but for my own interest - can anyone point me at some sites?

I never heard of a supposed engergy grid, unless he means ley lines. Unless this is some man made thing.

Yes, it's true. Below is a picture of a conduit of such energy. Nodes are less conspicious.

Dont know what to tell your mate about energy grids but the reasons it is located at Woomera afre the following.
In addition to its largely flat, featureless, and vast terrain, which allows easier access for test object recovery and provides an important safety valve for hazardous launch activities, the WPA's desert climate is another positive feature of the range. The area's stable climatic conditions virtually assure the ability to conduct year-round operations, with little downtime resulting from poor weather conditions.
It is similar to the site at Pine Gap being placed there because it is a dry clear atmospheric enviroment, just good sense, no woo needed.

It does sound like ley lines.
I'm reminded of the German project a few years ago where they reorganized some hospital wards to conform to ley lines. They hired dowsers to map the facilities.

Hehe. I was thinking the exact same thing when reading the OP.

This sounds like the "world energy grid" idea propounded for donkeys years by the likes of David Hatcher Childress and Bruce Cathie.
If there isn't an article about in in the SkeptiWiki there darn well sould be.

Well that leaves a place where all the signs need changing to MERA then.

Let me quote you a bit from a role-playing supplement, about Hermetic magic and the like:
(the author) was born under a conjunction of the Sun and Mercury at a crossroads. Soon after his birth a powerful Pythagorean ritual was launched against his name, and his family fled to the wilderness. Following his initiation into adulthood, (name) returned to the polis where he has followed in the footsteps of Solomon and Alexander by constructing places of power across the land.
I take it he works for a power company... :D
