Got this mail today:
Peter sends his hello to everyone he uses to chat with. I am unable to chat today whereas I and in my house and not in Peter’s apartment. Please forward my greatest thanks to everyone, who visited Peter in the hospital and sent flowers to him. I am so happy to hear that he was not all alone in Mount Sinai MC. I am sure that Peter will tell you all he went through the last hours in the hospital. I can assure you that Saturday September 9 was worse than a nightmare. I and my husband are so happy to have our son back in Sweden.
So once more THANK YOU
Peter’s Mom & Dad

Thanks, Jeff. Is there a way we could send get-well soon cards or emails to Peter?

I've asked, and they said they'll think about it. Peter doesn't have access to a computer right now.

What happened on Sept 9?
I thought everything went fine and he flew home....did he need more surgery? Did the Miami doctors use non-metric screws?

Or due the Bermuda Triangle Effect, did Cunir's fall happened on the 9th in Sweden?

I like the metric theory. :-)
Otherwise, perhaps Curnir's care was entangled in an administrative issue?
We were told that our man was fully insured. But today's US hospitals have a "show-me-the-money" attitude for those who say they can pay (unlike those who get free care by declaring they can't/won't pay). If his paperwork wasn't ready, or funds requested in advance, it could have been hell for a bewildered patient, no matter how excellent his English.

Based on the fact that surgery was performed, I would expect that the insurance details were resolved quickly.

It's a long story.
No insurance complication, no medical problem.
Lets just say I was close to panic because the cruiseline didn't arive with my luggage until 3 hours before the ambulance was schedueled to pick me up. And that the guy who brought it said he was to drive me to the port of miami to clear me with INS... even though I was physicaly unable to leave the bed... when he realized this (after about 10 minutes of me telling him that I couldn't walk, ans inquiring how he had planned to get me to the van) he told me to give him my passport... naturally I refused (after all without it I couldn't leave the US and the guy didn't even have any ID on him... He accused me of not co operating with the INS, I told him that I wouldn't hesitate a second if a properly acredited INS officer asked me.
When it became appearant that I couldn't be bullied into handing over the pasport he said that he would take my luggage and go down to port of miami and tell them that I refused to cooperate... wherupon I told him that I had taken possesion of the luggage and if he took it I would regard that as theft... He refused to call the INS and let me talk to them... I called for the hopital social worker since the guy was less than friendly and I didn't want to be alone in the room with him... whereupon he went out to whine to the nurses... when he came back I told him that he could have my passport if he left his wallet with all his credit cards etc... instead he called another driver that came up and the whle "why won't you give us your passport" once again ensued.. luckily enough my parents called and I told them in a tight voice to " Call the swedish state department, call the consulate NOW, they wan't to take my passport."
Again, these weren't INS agents but Royal Caribbean transport guys...
Anyway, they must have picked up on my tone of voice in the phonecall because their attitude shifted and when demanded that they were to call the port of miami imigration dudes they actualy called... it turned out that immigration had not known that I was imobilized... even though I, my parents, my doctor, the social worker AND the swedish consul had informed the Royal Caribbean Guest Care Specialist of this little tidbit... appearantly the imigration dude said that they were to send a harbor guy to the airport to give m that pesky stamp in my passport.
they guys left and I relaxed somewhat.
Then the nurse from the insurance company arrived and we repacked the luggage a bit, settled down to await the ambulance that was to take me to the airport.
Air France wanted us to be there at 2 35 pm, the ambulance was scheduled to pick us up at 3 pm... they arrived 3 20 pm.
The ambulance drove straight up to the plane... once again I was close to panic... luckily enough the TSA agent who were to search me before entered the plane was able to contact the Imigration dudes and start the process to clear it up, he also took down all the details I could give regarding my unconventional rentry of the US (via coast guard etc).
Once that was done it turned out that the ambluance crew didn't have a clue of how to get me on the plane, and once on the plane how to get me to the bunk/stretcher...
Well it worked out, and I was able to leave the country.
This was the brief story of the events on 9 11 2006

Curnir - glad to hear from you, it was a terrible shock to hear about your accident on the cruise.
It was probably all my fault as I forget to not-pray that everything would be fine on the cruise. Hope to see you in the chat-room again soon.
Get better.
