How many contributors to this forum have contacted their legislators in DC regarding the proposed Family Time Flexibility Act. Any worker who depends on or just enjoys time-and-a-half pay for hours exceeding 40 per week should be after voting down this bill. At best, it allows overtime to be compensated with equal time off, not time-and-a-half pay. Any "flexibility" it provides appears to come at the workers' expense.

On the other hand, your employer can just tell you that no, you can't leave work early today to take care of your family and make up the time later, since I'll have to pay overtime for it then.
Let's not forget that work is a compromise between what you want (lot's of money, little actual work ) and what your employer wants (slaves), and generally these things should be worked out in-house rather than legislated.
Yes, I know that some employers will not want to hire people who need a lot of flex-time if they have an adequate supply of people who can work set hours, but that's life. Hospitals won't hire nurses to do brain surgery as long as there are lot's of doctors. Its what supply and demand do. And I think you'll find that if you have the skills then your boss will be more than happy to accomodate your schedule, within reason.
