The last meet was excellent and totally kickin' rad and sweet. So we're gonna do it again.

What I need are some alternate locations. We've got people coming from both up north AND down south, so keeping venues limited to the greater bay area means people from both spectrums don't have to drive too far.

A bar or pub seems to be ideal, as they're easier to socialize in. Hanging out for a couple hours in a restauraunt is a great way to get stabbed by the servers, as lounging at a table costs them money. Pubs (usually) also have some kind of games to be played. Pool, darts, golf video games or shuffleboard.

My recommendation (90% because it's rad, 10% because it's close to me) is Buffalo Bill's Brewpub. They have a bunch of in-house ales, a shuffleboard, indoor & outdoor seating, and goddamn PUMPKIN ALE.

Do not be afeard of it's Hayward location. While a great deal of Hayward is a hole, this is in the fairly newish, semi gentrified downtown part. 4.50 per pint means scary people don't come in to drink much.

Use this thread to make your suggestions. Once we settle on a place, I will procure another selection of dates that we can all vote on.

Hmmm, this is one I might be able to attend; I have several meetings in SF coming up. I'll post the dates I'm available, and we'll see if this porves to be a draw or a repellant.

I would be willing to go to Hayward, although in the future it might be nice to find something on the western side of the bay (if only for diversity's sake).

As far as venues go, I am probably willing to forgo games as I am much more interested in talking to other skeptics than I am in playing shuffleboard with them.

Other groups I have been with have found Harry's Hofbrau (in various locations) to work out well (they are cheap, have a wide variety of food, serve beer, and don't mind you hogging tables, especially if you are in a far corner).

It's been almost a week with no replies, people. I need suggested venues of FUN. MOVE.

I'm not too picky about the place. "Easy to get to," "has passable food" and "allows for conversations at normal volume" really meets all of my requirements.

Rocco's Ristorante in Walnut Creek has excellent food, including both 'standard' Italian fare and pizza (excellent!) and has areas for various size groups/parties (probably would need to let them know rough numbers in advance)

Walnut Creek is likely far enough to discourage attendance from SF and peninsula skeptics.

Let me put it to you this way... Do you want to see fishnets?
