You can blame it on adam
you can blame it on eve
you can blame it on the apple
but that I cant believe
Its god who made the devil
and the woman and the man
and there wouldnt be an apple
if it wasnt in his plan!
Its god they should be crucifying
instead of you and me,
I said to the carpenter
a-hanging on the tree.

The point of the poem is valid at any rate....all scientific arguments notwithstanding of course.
Why should anyone BUT the omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and ALL loving, (both sane and insane behavior) take the heat?
To the reigionist the answer will most likely be
"God's folly is greater than man's wisdom"-AGAIN, ad nauseum.

The point of not be able to blame it on the devil is useful, but the last lines were pretty odd.

Therein lies the beauty of the poem.
But Jesus was crucified for the sins of mankind. Not for the sins of God. Exactly why God should feel the need to crucify his son instead of just changing the rules a bit is beyond me. But then he does move in mysterious ways.
Another good point of the adam, eve and apple story is that Adam and Eve were not capable of distinguishing good from evil prior to consumption of the 'apple'. Thus, it is ridiculous to assign any form of blame to them for eating it, for as complete ignorami, they didnt know it wasnt the right thing to do.

Which, of course, is absolute BS. First of all, to admit that God might have 'folly' is based on an incoherent (surprise, surprise) definition of God. Second of all, if God did have folly, even a slight error on God's part is infinitely worse than humanity's collected blunders. To have the power and knowledge that a God would have would entail the same amount of responsibility, and one would expect nothing short of perfection.
Humans, however, are by nature error prone, and even the greatest mistakes of humans are understandable.
